On this day in 1993, Federal agents raided the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Four ATF agents and six Branch Davidians were killed in initial raid.

A 51-day siege ensued, ending with an FBI assault during which the compound burned down, killing 76 people inside including David Koresh.

I broke into tears the day the Feds burned those poor people to death, as much for the final realization of what our great country had become, as for the loss of all those innocent lives.

Never noticed till just now the billows of very black smoke---evidence of "accelerants" (probably petroleum introduced by ????). Makes me wonder if it was tear gas the tanks shot into the walls or ?????. A wooden structure would have never made that much black smoke.

If I recall correctly, it burned off quite a bit of supplies, including (I think) fuel.

and we ALL know that the ATF could have snatched up David Koresh, when he was in Town shopping, which he did on a weekly basis, anytime they wanted..... ...... It is my belief, that Janet Reno will "Burn in Hell" for that one.....

Same is true for Ruby Ridge and who knows how many other times we don't know about. As far as Janet Reno goes I would use the saying, "there is no time like the present" since she looks like a witch anyway.

I have been to Mt Carmel and stood on the spot. It is a very somber experience. I highly recommend the documentary "Waco The Rules of Engagement" it should be required in every classroom. At least watch the first minute and a half of this clip. Very moving.

Dude, like I needed that this early in the morning! Damn. I've read a lot of reports, seen a lot of footage and there wasn't anything new but man...now I'm riled up all over again. The fact that the US Government via the press conferences disclaimed ANY responsibility and did nothing but disparage the victims

"Are you going to come in and kill me?" - Branch Davidian child.

I distinctly remember a snippet of video where men were splashing something on the outside walls..the commentator said it was the Davidians pouring Coleman fuel. After that the place went up.I never saw that video but once..anyone else see it?

Thanks for the reminder and I will be watching it shortly tonight. Making a drink and preparing to get pissed off.

It was made by an independent documentary filmmaker who was neutral and had no bias one way or the other. Siskel and Ebert (yeah it was that long ago) both gave it a thumbs up and Ebert said that it was a documentary that every American should see. If I'm not mistaken it was nominated for an academy award but of course that wasn't going to happen. The coverage of the senate hearings is the part that really gets my blood pressure up. With that POS Schumer doing everything he could to whitewash the feds actions and demonize the victims.

MM - I totally agree with you and the hearings are a joke since not one person in either Waco or RR got convicted of anything.

Actually, Randy Weaver was convicted of "Failure to Appear" in Federal Court.

Seems I read that he never had a summons for that hearing.

There was an error with the date. It was the courts fault and he paid the price. The Weaver story makes me so angry.

The root of Weavers family getting hosed was an alleged 1/2" under the legal limit of a shotgun. sad
@Minuteman, i've watched Rules before - was a great documentary. There is also some footage of the raid that has since been erased from the internet although I forget what it was now and why I felt it important so many years ago.
