Shooting begins this September, no release date projected. The movie can't be as good as the book, but will hopefully bring awareness and get people to read the book and start their journey. Nuclear EMP attack moves to big screen as author reflects on 'invisible lifeline'
I can't access the link. I wonder if they'll film it in North Carolina? Would be a movie that could be made to follow the plot of the book very closely. Will be interesting to see how it ends up. I'd like to see The Last Canadian made into a movie.
@hot diggity it is on da main page near da top uv da page as @3M-TA3 said under da heading "Fiction no more? Thriller-turned-film sparks fear as author warns America 6 min read " with a computer rendering with "doomsday threat" in all caps 1st column 3rd story from da right under the top headline [ what you see may vary ] a bit too much hype, perhaps it kinda sux it is being filmed in Bulgaria instead uv da Carolinas .. ..
Yeah, probably the costs. Same with using so many foreign English-speaking actors these days, cost. Think about that for a second...it is cheaper to go all the way to Bulgaria, transporting and housing and etc. the entire crew rather than film here. Maybe we should move to Bulgaria? LOL!!!! It is a great book! The author, William R. Forstchen, is fantastic and is one of my favorite authors. The follow-up book to 'One Second After' is called 'One Year After' and is really good too! The third one, 'The Final Day' is okay... He writes a lot of military history novels with Newt Gingrich (former Speaker of the House) and he wrote definitely one of my top five favorite SF/Fantasy fictions series, 'Lost Regiment' which I hope gets turned into a film someday. I think Cruise actually bought the movie rights to it and with the advancement in computer special effects we actually might see it. The first 6 books were great! He wrote them while in grad school to pay the bills. The last 3 books were so-so IMHO.
I'm with HD'gty ,, I'd would be nice if they did film it in NC ,, where the story was about ,, but the damage from Hurricane Helene might would limit some of the landscape of the territory,, but ,, some of the damage could play into the storyline of the book . Either way,, I will be interested in the movie when it comes out .
<sarcasticIrony> Maybe the power is still out where they want to film due to the spectacular FEMA response? </sarcasticIrony>
Notice how many of these "Survival" type stories are becoming more popular, not only in written form, but now in movies! And it's not just a popular genre, nor flavor of the month, but a significant response to world events and how people, especially holliweird are starting to see the truth and are showing their fears in these works! Great Story, would make for an amazing film if done with an eye to quality actors and bringing the writers story to life as it was written!
It has promise as the author (William R. Forstchen) is one of the producers. He put a lot of work and research into the book and it's not likely will compromise beyond the 2 hour time restriction for a film.
One Second After was a terrifying read... gonna be hard to translate that terror to the film.. hope they can though... might wake some folks up..
I used to say these movies were the eye of the future ,, It's almost like ,, once they make a movie about some things ,, then that movie becomes reality ,,, this may be another one ,
socialist/marxist libs are overt in their actions now.. BLM violence, tried assassinating a POTUS.. they have no reason to stop agitating civil unrest. EDIT: saw this cross the wire: MSN Methinks at some point the People will have to respond in kind... like Kyle Rittenhouse was forced to... the kind measured in FPS.
read it... think I want to see the movie... but ya not sure they can portray the actual story in the book... hope they can... might change some peoples view of things...
IF IT'S TRUE >>> Prez Trump just dropped a big turd on Hollyweird - 100% tariff on any films produced outside the US >>> taking a shot at the SOCAL enemy base but also in line with his Made In America - plenty of animation now being shipped out - filming in Canada and overseas is standard >>> should be interesting if it's true
