I do not understand this having to have your name drawn to hunt. Here in IN. our bag limit for white tail deer was something like 384+/- per hunter per year. If we had to win a lottery to hunt we would be up in arms. But this is from a state where you can stand on the ground with a high power rifle and shoot a squirrel in a tree but you can’t use a rifle to hunt deer on that are on the ground wile setting in a tree as that would not be safe.

I have a proposal for the ODFW......
    predators are major problems.
What I propose is if you harvest a bear or cougar.
we should be given an automatic meat tag for that unit.
The way I figure if I kill a bear, I just saved X# of elk calves. If I kill a cougar, I just saved 52 deer from being eaten this coming year. Just imagine how many people would be out there helping to take care of our predator's No need for goverment paid professional hunters, reduced need for LE gravel pounding. Or at least we would see a dramatic reduction is such problems.

I say we should be able to EARN our meat tags by becoming part of the solution.
    What do you guys think???

I would say the high cost of applying for the tags and the low returns resulted in Unintended Consequences of a new season being opened: ODFW Season.

    Happy Hunting!

WooHoo.....my first antelope tag in the last 12 yrs that I've applied, and then the late Whitetail muzzleloader/archery buck or doe hunt.

Same thing happened to several of my Central-state-hunting friends.

Can't you hunt Western? There's no Draw on this side of the mountain!
