I don't know where I was when all this came up. I followed Bob Stewarts case pretty close in the beginning. The BATF set him up because of his selling .50 BMG caliber rifles as 80% kits. Militias were snatching them up in the 90's. And our favorite loudmouth from Texas (Alex Jones) was crowing about it on the air. Even after being warned that he would draw unwanted attention to Bob and his business. The F troopers raided Bobs house and used the machine gun premise as thier excuse. They wanted his customer lists, they could care less about "Machine gun parts". Bob claimed that he never built any full auto weapons and that the parts that were determined to be "Machine Guns" were planted. So maybe this wasn't pursued or argued by the BATF so that may be why the ruling. Bob was working on a clip fed semi-auto .50 BMG 80% kit rifle. Can you imagine, one of the most powerful rifles made being shipped in the mail to Patriots all over the country. No serial numbers, no paperwork, no way to track them. The .gov jackboots were crapping thier pants at the thought. Also on the felon thing he made a plea deal in another case years earlier and it was supposed to be expunged from his record after so many years. A "technical" oversight left the conviction on the books, unknown to Bob. Making him on record a "Convicted Felon".
