    Own a Gun?
Guess they were not happy with the poll results the first time so USA today is running another now.
Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 3 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro-gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will be come critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court's accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

Here's what you need to do:

    - vote on this one.

    - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published.

I had to vote yes, even though I disagree. It's my belief that the 2nd Amendment does not give the right to bear arms,it acknowledges a right that preexists the Constitution,Declaration and in fact, all founding documents of all governments. In fact,I'd say the right to self defense,by any means necessary, goes back to Cain and Abel.Or,if you don't believe Cain and Abel existed, since some caveman coveted his neighbor's woman and the neighbor took exception to the coveting. If the 2nd gives us the right to bear arms,it's no right at all,but a favor that can be revoked at any time. For our own good,of course.. YMMV[soap]

Interesting counterpoint. However I guess that means you believe in none of the bill of rights. I think you are playing word games. Since you brought up the Bible (Cain and Abel), why would Moses come down off the mountain with the words of God in the form of the Ten Commandments carved into stone tablets. Why would it be necessary to write it down. Maybe someone decided it needed to be written down for people to believe it was true and tangible.
Since you don't believe in the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments), then even though I believe in the first amendment, Right to free speech, and you don't believe, well I guess you won't mind my saying "why don't you just shut up", or reconsider ........[stirpot]

    Then it's NOW:
    "The Bill of "Favors" "?
I'd have to differ the point, as it is clearly written as: The Bill of Rights...
Never saw or read anywhere anything about "favors"....
BUT then again, I could be wrong though,... as I don't do history well.
    Maybe it's an amended thing?
I'm thinking now ( not a good sign ya know!)
"You have the FAVOR to remain silent,....." ???
Nope, sorry but it just dosen't sound right somehow.
Or is it now "it just doesn't sound FAVOR now...."?
    Ok, I give up!
    See what I mean?

Whoa,whoa,whoa..either I didn't explain myself well enough or you misunderstood what I was saying.I firmly believe in all the bill of rights, but I think they are all rights that are ours because of being human, not because someone wrote them down.I think the Bill of Rights are acknowledgements of rights that we already possessed, not favors that were dispensed to us by the government. And God gave us commandments, not the same as rights.

Actually I was not near as serious as you might have thought. I was messing wth you no doubt. There is a pretty good book out by KrisAnne Hall, called 'Not a living breathing document: Reclaiming our Constitution".
Keep in mind, in the late 1700s America was loaed with sheeple, just like today. It was a British Colony, and the majority of the people were law abiding folk just wanting to live and let live and be left to their own pursuits. At the start of the American Revolution probably no more than 3% of the population were active firebrand American Patriots. They were vastly outnumbered by British Tory sympathizers and, the worlds largest Navy and Army. Mustering enough willing conscripts and volunteers to fight the British was a constant struggle. Our Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and Constitution were nothing new in reality.
Most of those who are serious about the 2nd amendment are fully aware that the USA 1968 Gun Control Law is almost a word for word copy of the 1934 Nazi Gun Control Law imposed by Adolph Hitler.
Far fewer of the USA population are aware that the 3 documents named above are near word for word copies of documents forced on various Kings of England by subjects who had been pushed by, and lied to, to the point of Rebellion. What you believe are inalienable rights were not necessarily so in a Monarchy.
It is an interesting read to check out the following documents and their history.
    1100 Charter of Liberties.
1215 Great Charter, or Magna Carta
1628 Petition of Rights, and formation of Parliament
1689 English Bill of Rights, and the Glorious Revolution
also the Patriot act compared to 1760 Writs of Assistance
imho, If these things were not written down, they would quickly be swept aside by Tyrants and totally forgotten. The population of this Worlds Greatest Republic needs to be informed, awakened, and enraged to get us back on the right track.
