Practicing part of being a good hunter

I have found that when shooting , be it archery , my muzzleloaders , whatever...
It is best just to "Compete" with yourself...Don't try to "outshoot" anyone else...Just make your next shot better than your last shot.
( At least this works for me....)

As far as being a good hunter...
One does need to know :
How to shoot...In all kinds of weather , positions , lighting, when you are cold and tired , hungry , in short...in all kinds of ways that are under less than idea range conditions...
Just where to place your shot in a animal...
What "load" works best for your firearm / bow for the game you are hunting and for how you shoot...
Your range limits and be sure to stick with them....
The habits of the animal being hunted...
The "Lay of the land" , that you are hunting in...
Some knowledge of the biology of the animal hunted and the relationship it has to where it lives...
Tracking...
And that is just the "Tip of the iceberg" , to being a good hunter , at least to me...
Most important to me is having respect for the animals I hunt and the world in which we live in.
