I may be wrong, but I fell like Diamond Don has been holding back something big. Mitch McConnell has already said the impeachment is dead on arrival at the Senate, so what did the dumbocrats hope to accomplish? Discredit Trump? They have to know that it will never fly.
What concerns me more is wondering what plan they had in the works for when Hitlery won that was thwarted by Trump. It had to have been major for them to spend his whole term trying to get him out. My second theory is that they know Trump is gonna send some of those assholes to jail, and now that I think about it, that's probably the best reason.

my guess on Pelosi's move to not sending over the impeachment - try to keep the "sting" going into the 2020 election >>>>>>>>

but more importantly try to use this "void" as an excuse to declare everything Prez Trump does "void" - especially nominating any SCOTUS replacements - first bill or EO he signs and we'll see them start squawking ...

This is what I was thinking. Pelosi is nothing if not a savvy political operator. She holds onto the Articles until after, say the GOP Convention, then goes to the courts and makes the claim "he's ineligible to run, he was impeached by the House."

Such actions would cause a serious issue since there is no legal precedent and the SCOTUS would have to rule on the case by merit alone. He was impeached by the House and even though we know she withheld the Articles for political reasons, the Senate has to hold the trial on Constitutional grounds regardless of timing. There's a 100% chance they'd side with the House since it is Constitutionally mandated and have the trial during the General Election time frame. Which for the DNC would be a win.

McConnell needs to put his big boy pants on and strike first, going to the courts and demanding the House send over the Articles as per the Constitution.

Their plan for this one will be put a socialist on the national ticket and try to sell them as being moderate to appeal to reasonable Democrats and independents.

what's on my mind is the termination of this impeachment - it was conducted thru this session of the House - what legitimacy does it have if it's never sent over to the Senate during this term? >>> 2020 election brings in a new Congress and a new term Prez - this impeachment can't possibly still be considered active after the 2020 election and it does need a Senate vote by the Constitution ....

I have a sneaking suspicion that Nan read Don's letter and took some of the less wordy parts as more than worth consideration. Putting the articles of impeachment aside for a "few" days harms nothing, AND could cause a few smarter congress critters to call for re-opening the inquiry (inquisition?) for reconsideration. Whatever else may ail that decrepit old bag, dumb she is NOT.
I give no odds of that happening just because Nan thinks it could, but it would indeed be appropriate.

As with Grand Juries, there is/was no obligation for the defense to be allowed equal time. It's the jury's job to figure out if there was a crime committed. The House thought so after due "consideration" of the "facts" it saw. Usually, once the GJ has indicted, it doesn't get another bite of the apple. But the House makes it's own rules, therefore could take that bite. We can hope so.
Also the jury at trial has to follow the local rules for conduct and be impartial. In this case the jury (the Senate) gets to make it's own rules. Well, politics are in play ---

What a way to do business.

send it to the senate in early January expecting it to be a speedy trial. But wait .. the senate takes it up and slow rolls it for 8 weeks putting it into mid march making all the senators stay in Washington the entire time. Thus causing the democratic candidates from the senate to miss the first few caucuses and even super Tuesday.

How's that for some political gamesmanship.

Well ,, RBG has said today that if any of the senators are impartial , then they could be disqualified from being on the jury .. So , since we have no impartial democrts ,, we'll have to fill the seats with republicans ..

What is the Dem party today but a cabal of trail lawyers and crazies (Socialists, Commies and just plain-Jane loons)

The Dem party is terrified that Trump will get reelected and then pack the USSC with more 'non-liberal' Judges - you know, the kind that follow the Constitution.

If the Dems can't get what they want with fraud-riddled elections, they file a lawsuit and go shopping for a liberal judge to give them what they want via Judicial edict. A Constitutional USSC would spike that path to power....for at least a generation.

I really am suffering from a lifetime of PTSD

Nancy Pelosi is guilty of many of the same things that the Democrats were accusing Trump of!

Obstruction of Senate; Once the Impeachment Inquiry votes were complete, her only Job still left was to deliver the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate for an Impeachment Trial.

Nancy Pelosi is demanding a "Quid Pro Quo" (or substitute the words Extortion or Bribery). In that she will not present the Articles of Impeachment until she first gets to read all the rules the Senate intends to use during the Impeachment Trial. She also demands certain Republicans are on the witness list. She has no right to tell the Senate or demand of them a single damn thing.

What she is doing above could easily be describe as Abuse of Power!

She is a Hypocrite of the Highest Order. In that all through this impeachment process she has been harping on Rule of Law and Violation of the Constitution. Truth is She is guilty as Hell!

Nan, on the one hand, squeals like a stuck pig when she thinks her pond is being stirred by meddlers. Then she takes a two handed grip on the articles and won't let go unless she gets her way in someone else's pond. Yep, that would be a prime example of hypocrisy. Mizzable old hag.

BTW, technically Trump will not be impeached until the HR turns it over to the Senate. Until Pelosi gets tired of playing the waiting game Trump hasn't been impeached. I don't think the "delay tactic game" to force the Senate to bow to the HR Democrats is going to play out very well.

I think they miscalculated and are going to get covered in Schiff. Schiff, BTW is Pelosi's fall guy and the first one she will throw under the bus while proclaiming her innocence. I'd love there to see the look on his face when he finally figures out what happens to useful idiots when they become useless liabilities. Priceless.
