northwoods and tacmotusn have complained that they are having a tough time viewing the front page and get something that says "Reloading". Anyone else having this problem?

I need some help in troubleshooting it.

    What browser?
    What error message?
When did it start? With the new Chatbox or other?
Happen every time you come to the site?

Found something. Might need to find a new chatbox again:

Any ideas would be really appreciated. It's obviously something to do the AJAX but can't figure it out.

Cyber, can you help me please?

    Thx

I concur: this plugin is hanging with "Loading..." and displays an error on page in MSIE (not Firefox) only as of a day or so ago??! I notice the same issues being reported by users of the advanced stats - anyone have this with cyb-chatbox?

This excellent chat has been working without issues for some time now - and I am using 2.3 - it is same behaviour on a board without advanced stats - so it is an implementation thing common to the two in MSIE...

    TIA

Could it be related to these kinds of coding issues:

Most of the implementations also realize HTTP caching. Internet Explorer and Firefox do, but there is a difference in how and when the cached data is revalidated. Firefox revalidates the cached response every time the page is refreshed, issuing an "If-Modified-Since" header with value set to the value of the "Last-Modified" header of the cached response.

Internet Explorer does so only if the cached response is expired (i.e., after the date of received "Expires" header).

Basically, the problem lies with IE's caching mechanisms. So if you were trying to build an AJAX application with a real-time updating component and it didn't seem to work in IE, now you may know why that is.

    There are workarounds:

    1. Modify the AJAX call (within the client-side script) to check the response and, if necessary, make a second call with a Date value in the past to force the call to the server.
    2. Append a unique query string to the call, for example appending a timestamp. This makes the URI unique, ensuring it won't be in the cache and forcing IE to call out to the server to get it.
    3. Change all requests to use POST instead of GET.
    4. Force the "Expires" header to be set in the past (much in the way we expire cookies programmatically). Setting cache control headers may also help force IE to act according to expectations.

That screen shot is not what I saw. The warning I had simply said that IE stopped working, and wanted me to get a repair. The repair didn't work. I can't key it to the ChatBox because I didn't try IE until this morning. I have IE v.8 also, and it has been on the machine for several months. However, I upgraded the M$ junk just last week, and until then had no problems other than the usual PIA that IE represents. (Had another glitch with the Vista OS on startup, tho', the upgrade wiped out some settings, and it took a bit of futzing around to sort that out.)

This is MS coming out with an upgrade that is either not forward compatible or not backards compatible with php and Ajax.

IE or the chatbox (with ff or other).

I just made a small tweak on the server. Please let me know if you are still seeing the error.

    Note to self:
    etc/php.ini
    Code:
    ;default_charset = "iso-8859-1"
    default_charset = "utf-8"

I get a time delay while the chatbox loads....Now the only real problem I have had, is I get "timed out"? I have to sign in again some days...
A couple times while I was writing a thread.
I have internet explorer IE-8, and use MSN explorer as my homepage ( yuk!).
Itr's all the same only the name is changed.

Yes, I still have a problem with the chatbox. I explained in as much detail as I could....lol... and I was sober and paying attention. My comments are at the chatbox this am.

I also find myself getting logged out from time to time. Maybe this is all a test of internet control and censorship?? Put the mechanisms in place that can shut down chunks of the web via seemingly small access problems here and there

Could be...? who knows? All I know for sure is .... I have been here now for about a year, IE7 or IE8 that entire time and no problem until the chatbox change. Yes I know there are a ton of members and most have no problem. ..... Whatever.... it is no major problem, just a minor inconvienence that I can easily live with.
