I have a G-3 shortwave receiver that has gone lame. It will not recognize when i change the batteries. I put in new batts and the radio shows that the batts are dead and the radio turns itself off. I have tried two new sets of batts from two separate packages. Can anyone give me an idea what is going on and can it be fixed? Thank you

I wish i had the ac adapter but it is long gone. I will try the shorting the battery connectors. Thank you
