That is offensive intrusion.
I am not a smoker, but that is going too far, IMHO. The company I work for has a no-smoking on the grounds policy, get caught and you are summarily terminated. So smokers have to get in their cars and drive on to the public roads. This adds to the time they are away from their desk. Part of the reason for this policy is that at our old location the smokers would always toss their butts on the parking lot, making it look like a trash bin.
Much the same I don't like smoking, thesmell, thetrash, lost my dad to lung cancer,BUT this is going too far. as long as it is legal and not a safety hazard ( ammunition plant),They should sue or strike..
Guess I left this out of my post. I'm LOOSING my dad this as we speak! He can no longer get chemo treatment, and is currently going through radiation for tumors in his brain, on his back, and on his adreanal gland (this one is pushing on the liver causing the liver to not work work properly).
So yeah, I'm in the same boat. Can't stand smoking, smelling, see the trash left behind (but the buts are just cotton fibers right? that's a natural product), etc. etc. etc.
No employer should be able to tell me what I can or cannot do while I am not at work (there are a few exceptions to this rule, but I will probably never fit into them)
Smoking is just the start.
I was a Pack a day man, then I got so pi$$ed off at the Govt., tax my butt off for the god damned things and then tell me where and when I can smoke, so ?uck them I quit in Feb, and still crave one but deny it.
I had been suffering from IBS & lactose intolerance, I quit smoking and can now eat everything without any shitty accidents, okay I put a few pounds on but I'm well.
.....1984 gets closer every year...
While this scares me the bright side is the non smokers will quit paying for the people poisoning themselves. I also will not have to inhale that nasty shit. Why is it that most (not all) smokers are inconsiderate and sloppy?
Funny, I don't see this as having a bright side at all.
I know its getting pretty stupid on the antismokeing garbage. In KC they took a bunch of tax money and used imenent domain to create 'The Power and Light district' which is basicly kind oflike Burbon Street in N.O. LA and now they have decided to ban smokeing even outside there.
I miss my smokes in the morning with my first cup of coffee and when out partying, now here in Germany they have started smoking clubs so that they can still smoke in bars, ie you can come in here we are a club who smokes, if you don't like that, do feel free to go forth, but don't stay here and bore us with your attitude.
Now the Officialdom have decided that the Smoking clubs are a special case group and their concession to remain open all hours will have to be shortened which means that they'll have to close at 02:00hrs.
The lengths that the anti smoking Nazis will go to.
Here's a time-line similar to smoking but worse:
High fructose corn syrup --> juvenile diabetes --> very short life span
People so animately against smoking are freely giving their children the key to their eventual death with the above.
I think "the controlling interests" want us fat, on meds, dependent, and then dead.
I never caught second hand corn syrup though! Plus I have never seen a business cluttered with corn syrup.
...but if you think about it, soda pop containers and candy wrappers littering the countryside is epidemic. Seriously, I pick up more of that junk in my front yard than I do cigarette butts. Soda pop cans and bottles, paper soda cups with staw...
Most people would never give their kids a cigarette, but have no problem with them downing highly sweetened cereal, soda pop, candy, HFCS-sweetened fruit juice. That is the incidious part!
BTW, I don't smoke.
Surely you've found chewing gum stuck under a table at the pub and given 'er a go ??
What? 'aven't we all? ...
