Once these start migrating down in price and are more readily available the other bad guys will get them

Would be better no doubt, but the report said the device couldn't read through a sheet metal material.

A house may require to much plate.....but a safe room would be very manageable;)

Naw, 5/16" AR 500 less weight and better stopping power than standard steel plate.:D

I defer to your greater knowledge, sir. But what would the price difference amount to?

Like many materials the prices fluctuate, but around here the AR plate would still be cheaper because of its thickness compared to the 1/2" standard plate. Also depends greatly on how much material you'd buy at a time. All of my steel targets that I've made are out of the AR plate. They hold up for years, and by adding stiffeners they will not bow after repeated hits.

Plate might be a good idea, or maybe not. Make sure that the structure will take the weight.
