    I think you would have to build on-grade due to the weight of such an idea... with a concrete base for stability... and a nice back door that dumps out somewhere other than in the house.... maybe with a tie-in to battery backup/solar, a water line and another tie-in to the septic line, just thinking it through here for extended stays.... but others may know better.

    Agree YD. I know of a couple storm shelters that are set up similar. One has a small stand alone power system along with main supply tie ins.

    Retrofit works just as well... you just have to think it through and have the right layout to modify existing....

    I had always thought that if I ever build a new house it would be nice to wrap it in copper screen before you wrap it in Tyvek. I know the windows would keep it from being EMP proof , but I think it would help somewhat.

    Or it could just make my house a big lighting target [micro]

    Guess I better not :(
