I don't know about cats and birds...but dogs are very trainable to do all kinds of party tricks. Dogs were trained to carry a payload of explosives to disable / destroy German tanks. It was a quite effective tactic, except when it backfired on the Soviets occasionally. I mean to say...if a dog is trained to run to tanks...they may prefer the Soviet T34s that they were trained with than the foreign German kind.
