To save others from googling like I did, rocket lettuce is also known as arugula. RWD always teaches me something new.
Last night had ribeye , red peppers and asparagus on the bbq with grilled shiitakie mushrooms topped with chimmichurri Followed by raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake
Are you growing all that asparagus? My kids love it but it is super $$. They will eat over a pound for dinner. Maybe produce is cheaper where you are at. I only mention that because eating healthy is more costly then buying the poison, unhealthy stuff most supermarkets have. I want to feed my family healthy but stay in budget. What do you eat for breakfast & lunches? Is that cheesecake a special Keto recipe or just normal?
Nope, don't grow it (only thing I got this year aside from the herbs is rainbow chard) Its kinda expensive but food is one thing I would rather spend a bit extra money on for better products. Also we have farmers markets here all year so that helps (although green stuff mostly just available in the summer) I don't usually eat breakfast as I only eat when hungry but today, I actually was hungry so Streaky bacon, scrambled duck eggs cooked in butter with chives and ancho pepper flakes topped with a bit of mascarpone cheese. Almost added an avocado but figured I wasn't that hungry lol Lunches.. again only eat when im hungry so often I only eat supper but if I do lunch then, things like bacon, sliced meats, cheese, avocado, cloud bun sandwiches (pastrami, cheese and avocado....tuna and cream cheese..... bacon and avocado....etc. ) boiled duck eggs, salad with avocado, meats, tomatoes, cheese, seeds, nuts, lotsa olive oil. Etc...
Thick cut Caribbean pork spare ribs (marinated/slow cooked in lime, rum 4 difrent chilies, star anise and some other stuff I cant remember) finished on the bbq, fresh chard from my garden, fried in some of the leftover fat from the pork, coleslaw and avocado.
Yup, bp coffee is keto & thats what dh has in the morning, I ocasionally have one but generally make it with butter and cocoa butter instead, or a buttered chia tea. Coffee dosent give me any “buzz” or boost (i might as well drink water for all the effect it has on me) so its usally just because I want something hot.
Bacon, rainbow chard and spinach. Cooked in bacon fat with pine nuts thrown in cause I like them, sampire cooked in butter and parmisan grilled hake with a garlic hollandaise sauce
ABLT Avocado bacon lettuce tomato sandwich on cloud bread. & if your wondering.. thats 1/2 a lb of bacon from the local butcher.
pecan and chocolate chip (100% criollo cocoa drops) skillet brownies with whipped double cream. And yes... it is keto
My oldest son looked at this thread yesterday. He asked why we don't eat as good as you do. We do grilled meat and veggie quite often for dinner but your dinners look better. Could be all the sauces and sauteed veggies that you do. This thread certainly motivated my son. He was reading up on Keto last night
Lol... camera angles baby,.... camera angles! Well ok, maybe not. I do like to cook and have access to some really good stuff here. If hes intrested in keto for health reasons then tell him to youtube both Dr. Jason Fung and Dr Ken Berry. There both real drs and really know their stuff. Tonights yummyness.... Indian chicken skewers (thigh meat) , and crispy chicken skin and some peppers on the bbq, salad and lil bread things that were not naans... (theres recipes for making “keto” naan type bread but i dident have the right stuff so just made a kinda flatbread.. was ok but Im gonna get the stuff to make them properly next time.) mint creme fresh
Today my skewers I ordered came so I was finally able to do this…(good thing I ordered the heavy skewers!) Brazilian Picanha with grilled tomatoes, okra, asparagus and padron peppers finished with freshly made chimichurri.
So like I said, we eat well on our holidays, & I actully remembered to get pix of some of it Homemade pizza (fathead pizza dough, makes an awsome crispy thin crust without any wheat/flour etc) Pepperoni, olives, and peppers with smoked mozzerella (homemade tomato base) Venison salami, mushrooms, and tomatoes with basil on a basil garlic pesto base
