Ok, so you just took all the time or spent all the money to get a nice custom knife made of tool steel, what do you use on it to keep it from rusting? Gun oil dont seem to do the trick so what do you use?

The higher it's polished the more it'll resist rusting, and the rougher it is the faster it'll rust. I get 'em as shiny as I can, then use Flitz polish on them. I have a couple now that I'm trying Corrosion-X on. Might work as it's supposed to really stick to the metal.

I also wrap the blade with a little plastic wrap before I put it in the sheath and ship it - the tanning salts used on the leather will also rust the knife and they should not be stored in them.

I use turtle wax. Wax 'em like a car. No joke. Make sure you get the "new car" wax so it doesn't have abrasives in it (to remove paint oxidation).
