Greetings everyone. I found this site about 2-3 months ago while doing some searches online and popped in but didn't join at that time. I've joined up now so I can look around and maybe weigh in on conversations from time to time. I'm not a big time prepper, but I'm always interested in what I can do to be better prepared for things like the big one. I'm gradually gathering what I need both at home and when I'm away. I'm also very interested in discussing firearms and am a regular over on NWFA - folks there know me as etrain16. Anyway, it's good to be here, thanks for having me.
Welcome to the monkey @Withak . The statement above shows you are thinking more then many in that area. If the Cascadia subduction zone ever lets loose, you will want to have a plan. That will be a mess and a nightmare to get away from. I applaud you for taking that threat serious. One doesn't need to live in fear, they just need to acknowledge that it can happen. Glad you joined
Thanks for the welcome. I think it really hit home for us last year when we were vacationing on the coast. There had recently been another report on the Cascadia Subduction Zone. I started doing some research about what our options were on the coast. Where we were (Rockaway), it soon became apparent not only how quickly we would need to evacuate, but also how cut off we would be after the event - cut off from supplies, transportation, medication, communication. It was very sobering and we decided to make some more serious plans not only at home, but when travelling, so we could at least have a slightly better chance to survive in the short and long term.
Welcome from the desert southwest. Good info on here, even better people who would be happy to help direct you to the good info. Glad to have you.
@Withak I really like your post above. I will admit that I also look at security and stuff when I travel. I just took a class in Civilian tactical and one thing they drove home is, beware of the herd. Most people when trying to escape are going to go for the obvious. You can get trampled or bottle necked. When that happens, you are more apt to be in danger.
