I think I would visit the private security firm's headquarters and start taking pictures of everything in sight, inside and outside, people going in and coming out. Then I'd post it everywhere I could. If someone from the company were to complain, I'd tell them that they now feel violated the same way my children and I do.
This was outrageous action by the district, with or without parental consent. I heard the consent letters were sent out after the scanning had been completed.
a show of hands who believes all the scans were destroyed? I would like to see some 3rd party independent proof that the scans were deleted/destroyed. If this was truly "about security for those that ride the bus", then why would there be an option to "opt-out"? "Hey, we have this great security that limits those that can get on the bus, unless you opt-out, then just pick a bus any bus".
If this we my kid, and my School Board, I would be DEMANDING, that the idiot (Administrator) that thought this Idea up, and proposed it, be FIRED for Incompetence, and wasting Tax Payer Money.... I mean REALLY, Who thinks this stuff up, and Why should we TaxPayers be funding such BS....
years from now those retinal scans are going to show up again .... those scans weren't destroyed .... willing to bet ..... all that personal info for that kid is in a database somewhere .... those info gathering companies never dispose of good intel
Convergent Security Solutions (CSS) | Stanley Security Solutions Sonitrol: Sonitrol Audio Impact Verification, Fire Alarm, Access Control and Video Surveillance "Sonitrol is the third largest commercial security company in North America—and the leader in verified electronic security." The problem is, with such a large company, just about any HACK can claim to represent Stanley and Sonitrol. (broken link) Do a search yourself, find out how many independent franchises there are operating under one of the company's headings. "Sonitrol currently has approximately 100 franchises serving commercial, industrial and institutional clients in an estimated 180 cities throughout North America." It's not too hard to have an Echelon/CIA/Fusion type of operation thing going on, and nobody would even be the wiser. Let's assume this isn't nefarious at all --ask yourselves what a security company typically involved with central station monitoring and intrusion detection is doing taking retinal scans of children in the first place? I can see taking scans of adults who must work in a top level security area, such as the Pentagon. But school children, however? Since when do little kids qualify as potential threats, anyway? No, I see this as more of a conspiracy to condition people and to make little kids feel like they should be "protected" by the government, or to just make them feel like criminals. It doesn't matter. Retinal scans go into a database, plain and simple. They serve to identify by means of a laser scan or with facial recognition software, no doubt also used but not mentioned.
5...but being the selfish git that I am I'd rather it be on my spawn day! Anything heading our way for Sunday? Another Terran year will be ticked off on the calendar of my existence. Byte
