Passing by a LGS so I stopped by to take a look. Walked out with a Marlin 81 DL. It's missing the inner magazine tube and rear sight elevator but for $70.00 I'm not complaining. Already found replacement parts on line. This should be minute of squirrel accurate as I would expect from a Marlin. It also shoots 22 short, long and long rifle! Now the other one like it won't be alone anymore! LOL
The 81DL is a nice rifle. I have it's sister, the 80DL with detachable box magazine. The good thing about these Marlins is they have a true adult sized stock, rather than the subsequent "one size fits all" stocks. Fits my Greyback sized frame quite nicely.
OK,sent off for my parts this morning. Went with Numrich Gun parts. They had what I needed in stock and was the best price. Any one here ever ordered parts from them? How was the service? This is my first time using them.
I have used them. Only problem was a Marlin 39A rimfire scope rail I ordered. Came quick, but it was milled at an angle - factory reject. Unuseable.
Numrich is a great supplier. I've used them since they were the Gun Parts Corporation. If Numrich doesn't have something really old try Dixie Gun Works. I found a replacement right side hammer for an 1878 Colt 10ga coach gun there. New and wrapped in original oilcloth! If nothing works, try Lee's Gun Parts in Irving, Texas. Jeff doesn't have a fancy website but he'll know if he has something or not if you call him.
Got my parts today! Already put on,all that's left is a range trip. I'm more excited than Ben Stine,WOW.
