Are online petitions admissible? Or is that an arguing in the Internet kind of thing?

At 25,000 signatures, the White House says it will respond.
Well, Texas, you have done it.
As of 3:40 p.m. ET, more than 25,000 Texans have already signed the petition on The White House website to let Texas peacefully secede from United States of America and “create its own NEW government.”

    The responses should be enlightening.

Did anyone notice that many of the signatures on these petitions are from people who don't even live in the state they're signing the petition for? For example, as of right now, only one of the last 10 people to sign Virginia's petition is from Virginia. Probably the case with other states too.

Peacefully grant the State of Virginia to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government. | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government

We may have the right to petition our government, but I don't think we can expect to be taken seriously when we petition the government on behalf of others who could have petitioned themselves but chose not to. I'm still looking forward to the response too, though, for entertainment value if nothing else.

It's just a petition to respond. It doesn't say that they have to belong to the state.
this is much ado about nothing because it's non binding in anyway.

Ah screw it, I'm pretty sure I am already on a list considering my overwhelming despise for the TSA already. What's another list.

Good point. I guess more relevant would be the fact that no state has actually expressed an interest in leaving the union. And yes, even if Texas were to get 25,000 signatures by it's own people, that doesn't mean that those people represent Texas...

The more I think about it, the more I find myself having mixed feelings toward it all... Does anyone else find themselves unsure what to think of it?

I'm of mixed feelings to. But what the hex, If it's a fight they (corporations and executive/legislative branch idiots) want, it's a fight they will one day get. You really want to leave it to our great grandchildren after 3 more generations of indoctrination by the system? Probably better off dealing with it now. It's the least we can do for them because we have to make it right due to the debt we've already saddled them with.

Yup. Those petitions are completely meaningless. If a state wishes to secede, all it has to do is set itself up a government and notify the feds it's a done deal. Getting its citizens off the IRS rolls will be an interesting exercise, but necessary. Won't take too long for federal warrants to be issued, betcha, and the borders manned on both sides.

The only problem I see is that Internet petitions dont count. But boy was this all over talk radio today.
