Well, the petitions are just a request for Obummer to respond if he wishes. And, he'll most likely just side step the bus that circling the big house. He knows if he steps off the curb it's gonna get ugly.

Mostly, all this internet petition is going to accomplish is to allow the frustrated masses of disenchanted citizens to vent off some steam. As a tactical tool this is great. It will placate the sheeple because they think they are doing something to resolve a grievance and allow TPTB to avoid a real confrontation.

win-win if you are in power. Plus it gives you a talking point that you can tell them you are working on resolving over the tenure of you dictatorship.

What I am hoping for: NO negotiations. NO stand-down. NO quarter. Once the petition finalizes and either receives its response or the people of Texas (and any other who wish to follow) decide to carry this forward, they hold a peaceful march on Austin and guest speakers like the Honorable Congressman Ron Paul and others take the podium to celebrate a new beginning. A date is declared and agreed upon, a week from that day --and the State government as well as the Federal Government are placed on official notice. The secession will begin and the people of the republic of Texas will stand alone, some say as God intended.

And the FED can take its usury scam and shove it.

Just a message to Washington at this point. Maybe some states wlll take an interest and run with it. Remains to be seen. It does seem to have a good ground swell of responses.

Less than a week after a New Orleans suburbanite petitioned the White House to allow Louisiana to secede from the United States, petitions from seven states have collected enough signatures to trigger a promised review from the Obama administration.
By 6:00 a.m. EST Wednesday, more than 675,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states, according to a Daily Caller analysis of requests lodged with the White House’s “We the People” online petition system.
A petition from Vermont, where talk of secession is a regular feature of political life, was the final entry.
Petitions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas residents have accrued at least 25,000 signatures, the number the Obama administration says it will reward with a staff review of online proposals.

Obummer at the peril of his party can choose to ignore the petitions for response. Being that there is such an up swell of emotion and division in our country, he probably will respond but en mass to the secession petitions and his response will probably be some version of 'Nuts';"Sorry, we ain't gonna do it." Yep, it'll be a polarizing response and tension will rise. One can only hope and pray for sanity.

Yes it would be great if we didn't get taxed into the ground, have the federal reserve monetizing the debt, be fighting unsanctioned wars, ... etc. but you know, sheeple.

We are pretty much screwed. So, keep on prepping because one of these days, you, your children or your children's children are going to appreciate your foresight into the rough times that lay ahead.

To the ones that think this is going no where well I wouldn't be so sure of that. The petitions themselves I any sane person can agree is not going to get aproved by .gov. But this started from one person about a week ago and now has well over 675,000 signatures. Mo. has recieved about 100 signatures a hour for the last 24hrs and dosent show any signs of slowing. Revalotions usally start with a serise of small things that end up spiraling out of control. We have a country that is devided down the center with about half wanting a marxest .gov and half wanting America to be America. How does one side compermise with the other? It may just be me but I believe we are sitting on a powder keg that's looking for a spark.

Actually, Washington D.C. is a Federal Zone. So are Guam and Puerto Rico.

Yeah, I know...but the thought is intriguing. Perhaps we could kill two birds with one stone, and simply designate Washing DC as a penal colony, wall it, fill it with all the imates from the worst prisons, (after all, doesn't Illinois already have three Governors making licence plates?) and convert the empty prisons to drygoods storage, and power stations. Wind, geothermal, and solar should be able to share the same footprint.....

@Brokor I like how you boil it all down to a single enlightened sentence. And that about covers it.

  17. So, who is going to be the leader of this new movement? What is he promising that is better? What type of Government are you all proposing? How are you going to defend this new "Country(?)"? How are you funding this? Have you all even thought this through?
You just jump to the extreme with out thinking the whole thing through.
*"You" being the generic collective of people proposing this "solution".

    Hmm, Let's see:
    1. Sock puppet Monkey or @Mortimer Adler Moose couldn't do any worse than what we currently have. Until we have elections, the governor is the highest office in the state.
    2. Not promising anything that is better, just self-determination and a true constitutional govt.
    3. Based on the states current constitution that the state already has.
    4. state militia based defense.
    5. funding would be based on current state taxes.
