I'm looking for a super cheap domain registration and website hosting recommendation.

want to get a TLD (.com)
have a simple site (3 pages) hosted for the domain.
Website builder or templates would be nice but not necessary especially if they add monthly cost.
email would be cool but could deal with aliasing to another address.
don't need VSP, DB servers nor addon apps.

Doing this pro-bono so I'm not going to make any money off it so I need cheap, cheap, cheap.

    Your suggestions ... and go!

I've used Moniker as one of my cheap domain registrar sites, for several years. Definitely, no frills. But, it works. Um, maybe check out NameCheap, for hosting? Or, maybe look at domain registration and hosting, with NameCheap? (Personally, I never register domains along with hosting, on the same site. Just a practice I got into many years ago. But, not sure how you roll.)

Register your name with just about anybody, even Network Solutions (NetSol), I'm registered with Name Secure, but they are owned by NetSol, who in turn is owned by (who ever they are). Hosting is a whole different story, I went with Daily Razor, for support mainly, my registrar has zero phone support, uses other help desks for any other kind of support, etc.

Man, the hosting market sure has changed.
Be careful of super cheap places, they will offer a deal for the first round, then try to hit you up for further advances down the road at an inflated price. They probably assume most folks don't understand the process involved with moving a registered domain. Anyway, I don't have any suggestions except to steer clear of GoDaddy.

Personally use Network Solutions and GoDaddy for a couple of domains. GoDaddy is cheaper than Network Solutions even on renewal, but you can get a domain for $0.99 for the first year with GoDaddy right now with a coupon.

Google Site using dns redirect for free. Yes, banner/link at the bottom but not intrusive at all.

Zoho for free email address, but is web only.
    Zoho Mail Suite
I think MailChimp has free with IMAP/POP3.

Both the email and web hosting are free, as in completely free.

    I went with NameCheap.
Will it work .. I dunno .. I'll kept ya posted.
    But for 48.99 I got:
a .com address for 2 years,
hosting for 1 year (20GB disk space, unlimited traffic, cPanel and website builder plus access to a crap ton of apps I won't use).
    email redirects
and a comodo SSL certificate for 1 year.

    renewals at current prices are;
    Hosting 25.00/yr
    .com renewal 11.00
    SSL certificate 9.00
    so like 4.00 per month.

@VisuTrac, if you don't want to use the domain name for any email accounts, an email provider I use for some of my communications, is In fact, I may have learned of it on this very site.

Thanks. But this site is going full on NSA approved.
It's going to have the following feature associated with it:
    a gmail account
    twitter account
    facebook account
and probably Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure Webservices as well.

Yep, it's going to be a public persona.
