Self Quarantine, lvl 500 (Broody Watch)

Day 3 of self quarantine. I have not left the nest to eat, drink, or poop. Humans are pathetic amateurs.

Day 5 of self quarantine. Still have not left to eat or poop. Did turn around. Water is within reach. Human slave continues to annoy me.
16 days to go.

 

I feel like I should point out that isn't filth or poop on the wall behind her. It's cobwebs. That's the old rabbit room, unused for a few years. I had to get her out of the coop before the other hens got ideas so I popped her in there, didn't think about hosing the back walls at the time.

 

Aww , it'll be ok ,, it doesn't seem to be bothering her that much,,

 

Day 8. Left the nest to poop first time since quarantine began.
It was glorious.
Human finally proves useful as waste removal service.
13 days to go.

 

Day 15. Refusal to leave nest has prompted human slave to present breakfast in bed.
This behavior must be encouraged in the future.
6 days remain.

 

Clearly I am having some math issues here... according to my calendar eggs should be hatching on the 6th but I think I started count here when I first put up a pic lol. Plus she'd already been setting for a few days when I moved her. At any rate, next week for sure.

 

After 22 days without a single pip I checked the eggs. All failed the sniff test. Poor girl was sitting on a nest of sulffer bombs. I had a feeling my rooster wasn't clocking in to work like he was supposed to. Went to TSC yesterday and got 5 barred rock pullet chicks and traded her out.

Now I need a new rooster.

 

Old rooster needs to flavor a big pot of dumplings.

 

I had a good rooster for a while but seems he gave up. it happens.
