A man could die of thirst by the time that the wine was poured....I wonder if the calorific output in providing the motive effort would be equalled by the calorific intake from the consumed wine? I wondered what the bell was for...apparently it is not totally decorative.

Wonderful contraption, I like how it grabbed the cork and took it away after it was removed from the bottle. Very thoughtful and skilled was this craftsman. A la Seawolf1090, I would have replaced the hand crank with a steam boiler spinning a flywheel, though.
