First off, they were survivalist cats. Living off the land wild and free in today's society, this would set a bad precedence, free will can not be tolerated. So they had to die at the hands of the almighty enforcers of the regime. Cats today Dogs tomorrow then Humans Dark path my friends.
Much of what gets posted at this site is only tangentally related to survival....I could have posted it in the LEOs behaving badly thread I guess...but Clucking Hens would probably do just as well. The officer possibly hadn't enough range time, and he may have felt that someone else's backyard would suit the purpose....or perhaps he felt that children need some education in the cruel hard facts of life. I think that family may think twice about calling the police to get their incontinent, senile grandfather out of the top of their front yard tree.
That probably doesn't apply to father in laws that live in your basement. I might send him up said tree.
