I believe, but do not know, that both Cheney and Bush have set up blind trusts that prevent them from actively participating in investment decisions. Meaning that the trustees are acting as they should in taking investment decisions that benefit the trust. Now, I cannot state that TPTB don't have some influence, but morally and legally they cannot exercise that influence overtly. But we know how that works, I guess.

All of this bugs me in that the fickle finger of fate seems to point to the TPTB as the root of all evil. Well that may be. The root cause is yet to be discovered, says me, and when it finally come to light, said fickle finger will point directly at the banking interests as embodied by the Fed. What is scary to me is that all this is simply delaying the inevitable.
