Most of the media attention tends to be focussed on the police officers. The despatchers rarely get acknowledgement, and even then, it tends to focus on incidents where the despatcher makes an error where people get hurt as a consequence. Most of the time despatchers do their job, getting satisfaction from knowing that how well they do their job, makes a difference for their colleagues in the front lines, and for their community.
