Sometimes - you just gotta ask nicely...

So...a few mins ago I had a newer sierra RIP past my driveway doing at least double the speed limit (50km/hr) and park at the end of my dead end road....

Considering I've lost 2 dogs in the past 15 years to cars/trucks on the road (partially my own fault for letting them be "free range")....I was a little crusty to see some clown treating my road like a drag strip. Hopped on the quad and floored it to the end of the road.

"Hey man, take it slow on this road please - some of us still have a few acres and dogs off leash."

White guy - nice truck (no scratches or mud - pavement princess) - he immediately appologized...when he drove back past - nice and slow.



Sometimes - you just gotta ask nice.

Wish that would work here most of the time it does but I still have people that fly down the road

 

No doubt it wont be the last time...but I'm just happy I handled it "chill" instead of full on redneck.
Kinda a moment for me....i can think of times in the past stuff like this didn't go so well...
ie - 4 brothers blocking the road on the way back - cussing and throwing beer bottles at trucks sorta thing. (granted...10 years ago this was 'socially acceptable in my town - it aint now)

The worst one for us I wasnt here for....big bonfire party - bros kicked out some unwanted guests...they came back with a truckload and big rumble. Oldest younger bro got bear maced BAD. Stupid stuff like that.

Nice matters! I find that most people will respond kindly if asked nicely. At times I have had people get pi$$y when I ask politely but I always hope that they think about things and realize that their actions were not the best.

 

interesting thread, we had almost the same thing this morning. I live at the very end of our road and my drive way starts at a large turn around, once in a great while, some one rips down the road and then does a donut or three in the turn around and then screams outta there. Most times I am unable to see let alown get out there to do any thing about it, but this morning, they decided to stop and do a little sight seeing ( probably looking for a place to do some shooting) so I was able to walk up there and see what all the fuss was about. Just a couple of kids not really looking for trouble, just being kids.We got to talkin and they turned out to be pretty good kids, they even helped straighten out the mess they made, which sure improved my position!
Motomom34 is right NICE MATTERS! If I had gone off on them, things could have turned out bad!
