My city needs more homeless illegals about as much as we need more pot holes.

I did some research into squatting in Texas after crackheads moved into an empty house next to a friend and proceeded to repeatedly catch it on fire by mistaking the bathtub for a firepit. LEO was more interested in interrogating my friend for calling the squatters mean names than removing the filthy tweakers. Squatting for the purpose of actually gaining ownership of the house is a very lengthy ordeal but squatting just to gain access for a few months or years, not so much. Laws vary greatly state to state. NY and CA seem to be the easiest to pull it off.

A few bug bombs tossed inside seems to vacate them rather quickly, but like roaches, the second you turn around they're right back.

Back to the topic, there are a number of non-profits as well as individuals who now assist illegals and homeless in locating and taking over empty properties.... and sometimes not empty properties.

Duct tape, pickup truck, drop them off in their underwear only, no shoes in the middle of the night at the State Capitol.

Not worth the gas from here. I can be to Salem and back in less than two hours. Those are the jack asses who voted to make us a sanctuary state and who made LEGAL immigrants move to the back of the line.

Don't agree with squatting but there should be some way of forcing the banks to do something with repo houses besides letting them stand empty and the weeds grow up in the yards, etc. In our area in 2010 period,we peaked out at 1 house in 4 empty. Some of those were owned by people who had to move to find jobs and were thus empty. Could not rent them, buy them, or anything. A lot were owned by the government and could not even be taxed.

House next to my step daughters place was one. House in NH was one of a group of about 100 sold to company in Florida by the government. Group of workers from Florida, most named Jose, came in , cleaned it up, patched it up, and the company sold it and made about a 100 % profit, when the economy turned around a few years later. My step daughter tried to look into buying it a couple times and got no where. We had some money for a down payment etc, but it made no difference.

Quite likely. It's always much easier to make extravagant political gestures on the taxpayer's dime than from one's own pocket. ;)

Many years ago, there were a number of shacks in this area. They were unsightly and a source of concern because of the illegal activities that took place in them, and because of homeless people (back them we called them hobos). The Neighborhood Watch (my father was a member) burned them down...end of problem!

o_O I'm not sure that creating a criminal problem (arson) to solve a social problem (homelessness) adds to the sum total of law and order in a community.

A friend got hooked on Crack and his dad begged the dealers not to sell him any more. They did and he shot two dealers and burned down 8 dope houses. (He made his son point them out).

The 81 year old man got six months in county jail for "brandishing a weapon" from another earlier and related situation. The cops saw him doing it.

Nobody ever investigated the rest. The fire dept only contained the fires. I think they just threw him in jail to cool his ass down. He even had a cell phone to keep his bookie business going.

Martha's Vineyard is a big supporter for illegal immigrants,,, as long as they're not in Martha's Vineyard. " THAT " ,,, Sir Chello,,, is your democrats MO .

It would seem that the residents at Martha's Vineyard showed more compassion for the immigrants rick rolled there by lying human trafficking Ron DeSantis. The residents at Martha's Vineyard treated the immigrants with humanity and compassionately, ‘They were met with compassion’: Martha’s Vineyard welcomes immigrants sent by Florida governor more than can be said for DeSantis, Abbot, and Ducey et al.

After migrants arrived in Martha's Vineyard, a community gathered to welcome them

Vineyarder's lives were also changed by the experience...

Well, we see things just a little different down here. If something needs burning, it gets burnt, and if somebody needs killing....

And just hours later those kind souls had all the illegal aliens airlifted off Martha's vineyard to an airbase. The Vinyarders got to cosplay taking care of the unwashed masses for a few hours while small towns in Florida, Texas, and Arizona were (and are) inundated with illegal aliens, which include human traffickers, drug smugglers, gang members, and recently groups of well kitted out young men with firearms and camo.

Martha's Vineyard is pretty exclusive. While some communities are merely gated this is an island requiring a boat or helicopter crossing. Only the very wealthy can afford a residence here, which is why it was chosen to send a message to the virtue signalers who strive to look good but never have to deal with the consequences, unlike small border towns in red states. That's also why the illegals were quickly removed as soon as the photo op was over and why none have ever gone their again.

You might want to take a look at Chicago and NYC now that they are being overrun and resources once reserved for America's poor are now being used to take care of people who come here without bothering to follow the same LEGAL process so many others have.

Which may explain the rednecks who take the law into their own hands, ending up in prison....for arson, murder etc. [dunno]

Arguably, the processes by which the people trafficked to Martha's Vineyard were unethical. if not illegal. Am not sure that DeSantis's attempt at correcting one wrong (undocumented immigrants on American soil), with another wrong, (human trafficking by deceptive conduct and intent), doesn't paint DeSantis and his administration with a very shiny ethical lustre.

It is interesting that the Venezuelan rick rolled to Martha's Vineyard refugees are being referred to as illegal immigrants...apparently they
The decision and the method of moving the Venezuaulan humanitarian parolees from Martha's Vineyard, did not rest with the residents of Martha's Vinyard, but with the State Governor.

If you hadn't noticed, my criticism was directed at Ron and Greg...not all Republicans are bad, but some are undoubtedly awful. The GOP is no longer the Grand Old Party that it once was...it is now hostage to Trump cultists. King Donald's Daughter-in-Law, Lara Trump as RNC Co Chair is a clear demonstration of the kind of Trump family nepotism that greased the rails to the nearly mortal damage to Trump's business interests in the Trump.org civil fraud trial prosecuted by NY DA Letitia James.

I'm not convinced that the likes of Comer, Jordan, MTG, Boebert, Gaetz, Johnson etc are scions of fiscal responsibility....they seem happy to take the US economy to the brink of default more than once in recent years.

I don't need to defend Biden, though it has to be said, that MTG's efforts at revenge porn aimed at Hunter in the House, just shows that her place would be more properly to be found in the gutter, than Congress.

The sad thing is that the GOP actually needs illegal immigrants to survive as a political faction, now that abortion is no longer as effective a rallying cry for conservatism as it once was....keep the American population fearful and anxious of 'The Other' i.e. people who don't look like us, people who don't worship like us, and people who come from cultures different to us. It's a tried and tested way of focusing attention away from the 'dear leader's faults and failings and towards traditional culture wars enemies.
