    The neat thing about that little steam engine is that it doesn't have to be super-efficient. It just has to work well enough to do its designated job. A lot of people get super-hyper-over-obsessed with efficiency whenever steam power comes up.

    A more substantial set up, using a two stroke lawn mower engine could power a small generator, or with appropriate energy transfer mechanisms, power a wood lathe or some other such equipment. Steam was the power source of choice for many, many, decades before the internal combustion engine came along.
