Student suspended after disarming gunman The teen wrestled the gun from another student when he pointed it at someone By PoliceOne Staff Fort Meyers, Fla. — A Cypress Lake high school student was reportedly suspended for three days after he wrestled a loaded gun away from another teen who had threatened to shoot it and pointed it in the direction of a student. "I think he was really going to shoot him right then and there," said the suspended student, 16, who declined to be identified. He received a referral the following day stating he had been suspended for his role in an incident where a weapon was presented, according to Fox News. The boy’s mother stated she believed he was suspended because he refused to cooperate with the investigation because he was scared. The gunman, 15, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to the article. Sgt. David Valez of the Lee County Sheriff's Office told Fox an investigation into the incident is ongoing
This had been discussed in the shoutbox. Nothing to see here folks. The so called suspension ended once enough information was gathered to clarify who did what. The perp went to jail. The hero who was one of two who disarmed the perp, declined to speak as to what happened. He is now back in school. I suspect he didn't want to be labeled a rat and encur wrath of any gangs the perp may have been connected with. The school had to take action to ensure this was not gang against gang or whatever. I can understand why the hero remained mute, but that seems a little unneccessary considering the huge host of witnesses. Unfortunately there were no working security cameras on this bus. Had I been the hero, I probably told school officials that I would cooperate after others had been questioned, but not first, or as the only one talking. Additionally I would tell them I wanted to confer with my parents and the family attorney first before I spoke. All this would be done in an immediate and timely manner, and should have been adequate to forestall the suspension that occured due to him remaining mute.
"The gunman, 15, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to the article." When you point a gun at someone, you clearly have an intent to kill. That is what guns do. He wasn't holding a pop tart in the shape of a gun, but a real gun.
Clyde, this is football country. All of the main players in this incident were football players. No harm, no foul. You don't want to upset the apple cart do you. The school might lose some serious almni money. ......... tic folks (tongue in cheek)
Where is Obama and his drones? This is a prime example of how we could use a hellfire on an American Terrorist who held kids hostage on a bus.
