We have formally slithered into a two tiered justice system.
It was official November 3, 2020.
It's been corrupted for years, but now it's completely out in the open.

If I get your drift... it would be well to remember that military coups are as often followed by authoritarian military style dictatorships...consisting of military juntas who tend to suspend (or ignore) constitutions, and other democratic impedimenta, for the purpose of protecting their nations from the chaos that they themselves had created in wresting control from the civilians that were duly elected through democratic representational processes.

Such social upheaval is also often enough exploited by those willing to use and abuse force of arms by co opting the military to support their authoritarian grab for power...Franco in Spain, Pinochet in Chile, The Greek Junta, the Military Junta in Argentina among many others, are examples of the corruption of the military, once they become intimately involved in the politics of the nation that they are meant to defend. Lofty ideals and honourable intentions are all well and good, perhaps in the beginning...but an active involvement in the internal politics of the US, by its military, is surely an event which the USA's global competitors will welcome with some satisfaction...anything which weakens America's capacity of its citizenry to govern themselves effectively will be welcomed, supported and encouraged.

When factions of the military of a country feel that they can run a country 'better' than the civilians, a military coup or a putsch supported by the military with civilian puppets (pronunciamiento), is a way of effecting regime change...there are enough historical examples to choose from that have followed that anti-democratic path.
List of coups and coup attempts - Wikipedia

It is not impossible that that such regime change could happen, even in the USA...difficult, yes, but impossible, no. The partisan stacking of the SCOTUS by the last administration has weakened the SCOTUS as an independent arm of Government.

The previous El Presidente is simply the cultish head of a movement which is prepared to sacrifice the Constitution at the altar of the dear leader's whims and wishes...and where political considerations on the 'Right' are mediated by their 'dear leader's' de facto preferment or denunciation.

johnbb may not have explicitly used the term 'coup', it was however 'wink, wink' 'nod' 'nod' implied.

and who said they would run the country? could it be possible that all they would do is remove certain people from office and hold new elections?

they did take an oath... some would probably try to uphold that oath...

while the system of government we have is not perfect it is still one of the better ones...

that some have slowly worked their way into the inner workings of said system... AND....

they seem bent more on it's destruction then it's continuing operations... removing them and replacing them could prove effective...

Such naivete is endearing. Who said that they may not decide to run the country...sure they may appoint civilian puppets to give a veneer of legitimacy...

And others would have no compunction about breaking their oath...Benedict Arnold anyone? Some may feel that keeping commie bedwetter socialists out of office, is more important than their oath to protect the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic...what if those military oath breakers ARE the domestic enemies of the Constitution.

Agreed...but it has been badly degraded severely through the .45 administration to the point that it resembles a Russian authoritarian oligarchy, more closely than the representative republic as envisioned by the founders...instead of draining the swamp, the swamp merely got enlarged and deepened.

Goodness...you are describing very accurately the swamp critters appointed to cabinet and other departmental appointees, both permanent and temporary.

Apparently Louis DeJoy is proving difficult to evict...send in the military to remove that bit of excreta from the USPS....those relying on the USPS may not die waiting for their life saving meds...

Louis DeJoy's GOP campaign donations scandal, explained

Stacking the SCOTUS with mediocre conservative appointees apparently is ok...enlarging SCOTUS apparently is less palatable to conservatives...is it so surprising?
