    Starting to look pretty :)

Ok, I've been slowly going through and gathering ALL of the US Military FMs (Army, Marine Corp..although it isn't an FM, etc.), and I do mean ALL of them. There's probably 5 sites that I'm going between to gather them all (if A doesn't have it, at least ONE of B-E will). I'm also, whenever and wherever possible getting the "professionally" published PDF rather than a scan so that they can be searched by whatever your reader is (plus it just makes it easier to read).

The question is...how best to get those onto the site. When all is said and done there's going to be several hundred. I understand that it's probably a waste to upload "Underwater Helicopter Maintenance on the Surface of the Moon" but even so, one at a time is going to be...slow.

Yes, it is a slow process and that's what's kept me from uploading my nearly complete collection of FMs and TMs - that said, it would be nice to have them all - even just to be able to say we do. There is no mechanism to batch or automate this...
    1 step at a time, eh? ;)

I think it would be best to come up with a common naming convention that lists both the number and the title, like: FM 71-26 - U.S. Army Survival Manual

Your title example is similar to what I've been using:
Branch - FM ID - Title
    ie:
    US Army - FM 1-0 - Human Resource Support.pdf

I did it that way so I could readily distinguish what branch (and possibly what country). I'm willing to redo (gotta love batch files and Excel) to match if we can come to a consensus.

Yours is better for searching - I'll change mine and also use that format when migrating old threads to resources

    Still a work in progress.
Thanks to @Brokor for all the additions over the past few weeks.

There was a permissions problem that may have kept some of you from being able to add Resources. This should now be fixed.

Absolutely! I want to give more time when I can to continue adding to our resources. The little bumps we have along the way should only make it better!

    Look at that beauty:

I do like to add a subscriber footer to every resource post I make, since it's an excellent place to give that link out to members who may not be aware that their support, in any way helps SM. For some of us, it may be adding content and assisting in roles here as a valued member, or helping new members find their way and feel welcome.

Here's the code I use, linked currently to my own album (free to use as you wish here at the SM).

    Code:
    [url=https://www.survivalmonkey.com/account/upgrades][img]
    https://www.survivalmonkey.com/useralbums/supporter1-gif.1222/standalone [/img][/url]
    Gives you this:

    Gives you this:

Since this post a year + ago, I've converted all of my work files and most of my personal files to something along these lines:
    Code:
    {Prefix} {YYYYMMDD} {Description}.xxx
So all of my work files start with my projects abbreviation as the Prefix: KIT
KIT 20150202 Report on how great melbos doing.xlsx

My Personal stuff is all prefixed with my initials or something relevant to a category: SM, HOME, etc. Documents created for my wife are prefixed with her initials. By prioritizing file names this way, they really stack up neatly by 1st, prefix and 2nd by date. I'm not likely to start renaming files that are posted here...

I am so happy I found and read this thread, prior to adding any further files to the forum Resources. (I have uploaded 49 files, thus far.) I went back and added the banner code to every file I have uploaded.

I will continue to add this code to each resource I upload, and even to my signature, for a while. Thanks so very much, Brokor, for the idea.
