And that is the beneficial part of having a team/group working together. Some members may pull their weight with camp chores, security and so on... and others can run patrols, hunt, fish ECT. It is all about proper planning and equipping for survival.... a person can not do everything by themselves well..... a team can.

Here is a better example of a fish snare.

Use big knife to cut several saplings, fabricate kayak frame using saplings and wire.
Cover frame with tarp, seal with duct tape.

Use 2 of the gallon bags for water, one for berries, fabric bag for cattail roots. Fabricate rough planks by batoning knife into small tree section then use spikes &/or duct tape to fasten same to handle and paddle back to civilization.

[applaud] @NotSoSneaky what an excellent idea. you must be near water, never thought of a boat but then no where to float it here. Great use of the stuff.

Nothing else really matters now, @Motomom34. You have a @Bear machete. Good enough.

Our British brethren use a milibank bag for filtering water.

    NOOOOooooo....

I understand SODIS, but never thought to try with a fabric bag. Will that work, @Airtime? Or our the nooks and crannies in the fabric protect the nasties? Would be cool if it works. Or did you mean with the trash bags?

I was confusing by not specifying which bag I was referring to.

Use the fabric bag as a filter to remove dirt, sediment etc. to make the water more clear. Filter thru the fabric into the clear zip lock plastic freezer bags. Then lay the clear freezer bags with water in the sun. For SODIS to work the container must be transparent to UV. That means brown beer bottles for example will NOT work for SODIS.

Also a clear ziploc plastic bag with water, if filled and squeezed just right, can make a magnifying lens. This can be used to start a fire.

    That help? AT

@Airtime have you been able to start a fire with a plastic bag of water? I made a feeble attempt but no smolder or anything. If you have any hints of what worked would be appreciated.

"trout lines" work surprisingly well. Another is simply tying lines onto over hanging limbs. There is a circle hook that is nearly impossible to escape from. Put those on limb lines/trout lines and they will greatly increase retention
