It's all due to the decline of mental health care in the US. There used to be a health department in every county that had an arm of mental health care, a state run mental hospital or two in every state, and law enforcement with the balls to take someone acting weird in for a mental health hold while they were evaluated. There also used to be fathers of children who would whoop a boys ass for wearing his sisters clothes or trying to carry a gun to school. However, in 6th grade the teacher let me bring in my Revelation .22 rifle my dad gave me for show and tell. In high school the hunters had rifles in rifle racks in their pick up trucks. We knew if you tried some crap someone would beat your ass. I am afraid that until we get back to slapping the taste out of someones mouth or stomping a mud-puddle in them all of these cases of mental illness will continue to grow much to the detriment of our society. I have to watch everything I say at work so I don't hurt someones feelings and can't use a baseball bat to break up a stupid protest without ruining my life with legal battles.
Same as I grew up , even in the 70s never locked truck and had the keys in Ign while having a beer at the hotel . Now I have a padlock on my winter coat zippers Sloth
We used to send mental cases to special mental institutions. Now we elect them to high political office and send them to DC.
