Yesterday I took the Taurus out to the indoor range to see what it could do. Also brought my Llama and Rossi as well. Started with some Blazer aluminum 357. This stuff is crap! On the first cylinder one case locked up my Taurus! After it cooled down it opens up but the cases were hard to extract. This junk could choke Linda Lovelace! Anyway after I switched to brass no more problems. The Taurus shot very well. A little low and left but I have figured it out on aiming. Went through 100 rounds of 38 Special like nothing happened. All in all it was a good day at the range.
I've had the Taurus wheel gun lock up issues as well. Seems the cheap stuff expands more longitudinally allowing the extractor flange to protrude enough to hit the frame. The wife's Judge is notorious - .410 bird shot always locks it up, while the much, (MUCH), more expensive .410 defensive ammo works fine.
Do they make those mini shotshells in .410? @Oddcaliber, that 65 should be rock solid, they're a pretty good gun. I love the old Colts & Smiths, but I've had some Taurus wheelguns that have been excellent.
No fault on the Taurus,it was that junk Blazer ammo. If I didn't think the Taurus would not hold up I'd gotten something else. Very happy with it.
