Back to normal from an unexpected freeze up.

Miles of Lines down and broken Poles

Only used candles and Aladdin Lamp for heat and light.

    Back to it.

Got bad enough that Red Cross opened and are still in place several "Sleep and Eat" warming units in other towns.
Med Surg Clinic down with no power.

You should have local county "Emergency Management", which falls under FEMA, which is part of HOMELAND SECURITY. I know for a fact the Fed Gov loves to give away grants to local government who know how to play the game and fill out all the paperwork. HS will usually cover over 90% of the cost of an item Like a Large Emergency Generator to power that Medical Center. County Gov will have to come up with the additional 10% and usually does so with fund raisers and bond or even a federal loan with reasonable rates and time to pay it back. Talk to you county Emergency Management People and see if they have a clue. I might even be able to hook a clueless administrator up with an ex Head of Emergency Management from my county to give your guy pointers via phone.

Had many offers of food and bed. Most likely FEMA will show up Sunday when the sun comes out.

Our place looks like a war zone with air burst used. Ice broke a lot of trees, Home is fine, not one to have tall trees close by.

Cows had hay and cats had the barn.

Hmm? All hospitals and nursing homes up here are required to have back up gen's, food for patients and staff, water and meds.. They are realy getting serious about thier disaster planning.. Used to be required for 3 days worth.. Now it is weeks..

Glad that things got back to normal quickly. How cold was it that you were able to just heat with candles and lamp?

Nights were down to 27, daytime was in the high 30s. No sun in the 3 days and rain each day, as well as sleet/snow.
House stayed at 62 to 64. Candles for light at night and Aladdin Luminescence Lamp was on and used one fueling each day.
The basic light was from some small cheap LED Lantern Shaped Rechargeable Lamps> 3 AA batteries or recharable, and the best of all was the Milwaukee Fuel 18 Led work light. One charge was only 25% depleted after 3 nights.
Coffee in the morning was compliments of Toyota tail gate 120 volt 400 watt source for the coffee maker.
