Thank You Brady Campaign! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm considering purchasing some land for long term retirement. The goal is to find a nice little corner of the world and pay off the land by the time I'm done working so we can build our home and live the life we have always wanted. I've found their site invaluable for screening potential states. The lower a state scores on their grading system the more attractive they are.
Dang, NV scored 11 out of 100! I think they also screwed up saying that we cannot "shoot first" when we're in public. Our CCW instructor was very clear that we have no duty to retreat. Then again the BC data is from '05 and our gun laws get better almost every year.
Sunny Florida scored eight out of 100 points on their 2007 scorecard - Way to go! I expect we may be even lower this year, as we have enacted the Castle Law and the Workplace Law. The Brady Bunch will hate that! I notice on their map of shootings nationwide - by far the most occur in Gun Hating states! Hmmm.... I see an obvious pattern there....
I'm proud to see that Arkansas comes in with 6 out of 100. BTW, does this site make everyone else as mad as it does me?
The three states I most often hang my hat in ranked 2, 9, and 6. With the 2 rating in the one I call home. Now that's what I call a great report card! Better than anyone I ever got in school!!! <TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=0 width=605 border=1><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=center width="90%">Assault Weapons Are there limitations on assault weapons? </TD><TD width="10%">No </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=605 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=center width="95%">Ballistic Fingerprinting Must handguns be ballistic fingerprinted prior to sale? Of course Commiefornia got the number 1 rating from the Bradybunch nitwits. Kind of scary since I live in a state next to them and they keep moving here. Just leave your anti gun attitudes at the border!!!
I am a little disappointed in IN. I thought we would do a little better then 8 out of 100 points. How can magazines fire any rounds? “Indiana - There is no state law restricting the sale or possession of large capacity ammunition magazines that can fire 30, 50 or even 75 rounds without reloading.” As it is I will probably only buy 3 or 4 more hand guns the rest of my life but if they ever pass a 1 gun a month limit I will buy a gun every month. “No state restrictions on gun-trafficking such as a limit on the number of handguns that can be purchased at one time.” At least they got this right this is the way it should be. “State law forces police chiefs and state sheriffs to give concealed carry permits (CCW) to anyone who can buy a handgun, allowing them to carry loaded, concealed handguns in public (known as ?shall issue?). Police may not even require safety training in the legal or safe use of weapons for CCW applicants. State law allows people as young as 18 years of age to obtain a CCW permit. State law allows residents of some other states to carry concealed weapons in this state without informing local police.” I am going to look into this. I will let you know if it is true or not. “Indiana - The state does not allow the use of deadly force as a first resort in public.” This is one that needs to be changed I will have to bring it up at the next lodge meeting. “GUNS AT WORK Are businesses forced to allow guns in the workplace? No Indiana - There is no state law forcing employers or businesses to allow guns on their privately held property.” And the same with this one. “GUNS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES Are colleges/universities forced to allow guns on campus? No Indiana - There is no state law forcing colleges/universities to allow guns on campus.” But it will cost you $5.00 more to buy one if you do not have a handgun license. “No state requirement that handgun buyers obtain a handgun license or undergo any type of safety training prior to buying a handgun.” I do not even think you can. I am going to ask the CLEO the next time I see him. “No state requirement that gun owners register their firearms.” What is a junk hand gun? Any one have the history of the term “Saturday night specials” that they would like to share? I has something to do with in the days of old they would take part of something to town on Saturday night. “No state restriction on the sale of Saturday night specials or "junk" handguns.” The only person that a waiting period count out are the ones that can not plan ahead. “No state requirement that there be a waiting period for gun sales”
Georgia has high summer heat but is about as good as it gets for positive gun laws esp. now with new concealed carry regs opening locations up. Overbore
After years in MA (54) it was quite refreshing to move to VA (18.) Circumstances have me moving to PA (26) pretty soon. However, I've lived in PA before. From what I've been able to figure out Philadelphia is the main reason the score is so high, and things have actually improved in the rest of the state.
WooHoo, TN scored a 7!!! Darn right I'm gonna shoot first if my life is in danger! I guess the BC wants the BG to be the officer, prosecutor, judge, and executioner? What kind of screwed up thinking is that, oh wait, we are talking about the BC here, my bad.
