That would be the ultimate bonus...but we would have to become home wine and beer brewers to support our drinking habits and live off the fat of the land like MM. Perhaps the brewing part would be a good start!

I bet if you lived closer to the Mason-Dixon, we could find a way to rule the world while sitting on the porch drinking beer

Stills are easy to make, it's the mash recipes that are scarce. And a carbon filter on the vent keeps the revenooers from tipping on the location. I bet I know a bit of land that could support a still somewhere between here and a log cabin. And, what is left after making the sipping part is good feed for the hogs.

(And I think it's legal to make your own for your own consumption. The tribe might consume a goodly quantity when the snow is falling. (Is own comsumption part of barter?)

    I make beer.

actually, have made beer. Used to cook up a batch every month when I was a single man.
Come to think of it. Used to do a lot of things then.

As far as the recipees there are a few here on the site...look in the resource section of the reading room, there is a thread titled Possum living that has recipees for several brews, vodka, gin, whiskey and burbon IIRC. Also if you keep a several hives of bees you could always make mead and then cold distill or fortify it by popping it in the freeaer an the water will freeze before the alcohol and flavors so you toss off the cakes of ice as it freezes untill its reduced to about 1/2 volume, if you do it right then you end up with super smooth sweet kind of like wine thats as high as 50 proof....not quite the same as Barenjager but still REAL good stuff.

    Alas...
    The beer is gone
Burned the box from which it came
Felt it's heat, that last output of warmth; fire
    and now...
a slice of lime, squeezed gently over ice..
    A VT is born.

Well I was drinking frog wine with supper tonight. Dad and step mom went to Paris to visit a guy over there she hosted as a foriegn exchange student when he was in HS and they brought me back a bottle of wine.

Stella Artois is a Belgian lager beer that has been brewed in Leuven, Belgium

It is as close as you can get to being french without actually being french.

I wonder if monkeyman will live after drinking that overpriced crap.

I had a great australian cabernet last night after my beer. Melbo made me fire up the grill to make steak.
