The Party Line

A few comments in the Political Motivational - Demotivational Thread got me to thinking. I know, that's a stretch, but here it is...Do you actually 'toe the party line'? I don't know for a fact, but I also don't know anyone personally that completely 'toes the part line'. There are dumba$$es in every party, regardless if they are a recognized party or not. There are things that Senators and Congressman support, from my own 'party' that I shake my head at and wonder what the hell are they thinking. There are 'riders' on almost every piece of legislation that gets put forth, frequently irrelevant to the actual piece of legislation. It is a give and take, butt kissing contest to acquire enough votes for just about any worthy piece of legislation. Even at the State level there are 'riders' on things that are irrelevant to the topic of the legislation. Often these 'riders' have an impact on our schools, services for the elderly and law enforcement. I think too many of our politicians have mistaken the bumper sticker that said "Ass, gas or grass, no one rides free!" and applied it to legislation.

The only “ Line” I Tow, is the one AlaskaChick sets down... I am a Free Man, and a Free Thinker... I consider what others SAY, but wheather I choose to incorporate their thoughts in my World, is always a decision that I contemplate, before deciding... There are few humans that I know well enough to trust, implicetely, and even fewer that I have set as Basic Fundamental Role Models... I do my own research, to decide what gets into my World, and my Basic Life changes very slowly... Once I make a decision, and incorporate something into my World, it is a VERY Rare Thing to rethink that issue...

No "Party Line" for me. I cannot agree with the Socialist Democrats at all. I also dropped the GOP, after they purposely failed the 2008 and 2012 Presidential elections, and have been limp as cooked noodles in opposing the left. Two sides of the same tarnished potmetal slug.
So, I am an Independent Conservative with no Party, just my own beliefs and standards.

Funny how the "party" has more lines than a cheap suit has threads. Which one(s) to follow is always the question. I've raved more than once about lumping all into a single label. Foolish thinking, if thought is really involved at all.

Absolutely not! Frankly, I will do everything I can to get both of my current Senators out of office next election even though they are both Republicans. For me, that will mean vote Libertarian or Constitutionalist which really just means splitting the Republican vote so a Democrat has a better chance but I am so fed up with these worthless, do nothing SOBs, that all I want is them gone.

They had both houses and the Presidency and what did they do with it? What major problems got fixed? Oh, they were quick to give Israel $38 Billion of taxpayer money but what do the taxpayers get...besides higher taxes, higher medical costs, and the shaft?

The two ruling parties have become the same party. They represent their agenda not mine. The last 10 years I have watched in disgust as time and again they throw the peoples needs aside and work for their own betterment. I did not vote straight party ticket last election. I read up on all candidates that were on my ballot, even the judges and cast my votes on my research.

Making slaves believe they actually have a say in who is seated in office has become a very important crutch for continuing this disillusioned era under the guise of "public policy" for the corporate cartel establishment.

The entire world is run by corporations.

But, of course! One must play to the plebeians, the masses, and it is much easier to keep them in line, churning away, with words as opposed to swords. The same in Caesar's day, same as is today.

But, if the entire world is 'run by corporations', and I for one believe it, then we have a new form of government, correct? Because this does not fall under any guise or form of known government, certainly not Fascism by definition as many young people think; however, there are some very similar traits, mainly the nationalism and the constant state of war, but in our case it is war for profit using nationalism as the one of the pillars of its support. Yet, it also has a large drop of Monarchy, does it not? There are no Earls, Dukes, or Kings but do we not have an hierarchy of elites, politicians, old and new moneyed, media personalities? And, of course, pure, raw, dog-eat-dog Capitalism which is obvious.

So, what do we call this new form of government? It needs to be defined and named.

    EDIT: How about 'Slavery'?

Although I don't tow the party line, I have for the past 10 years voted in an attempt to jerk the head of that stubborn stable bound horse back to a more conservative and economically responsible line. Seems to me at times like that is either blindly impossible or that I'm the only one jerking on the reigns. I want taxes to go down and some to go away. I want a reduction in the numbers of people who cannot find work or find it easier to sell drugs, cheat, steal, or beg for a living. I really thought as a nation, we could get past this slow ride into socialism and recognize it for the trap that it is.

@Dunerunner "we could get past this slow ride into socialism"

What exactly are these Socialistic rides that you are referring to? Welfare? Food Stamps (SNAP)?
While I do not like these programs because they simply treat symptoms and not the true cause or are a true cure, at least, tax dollars are being spent on Americans unlike the billions given to foreign countries or bail outs to International banks and/or Insurance companies...are those true examples of Capitalism?

And, Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Socialist, makes a lot of sense in that "the benefits for working people are a lot, lot stronger in many other countries around the world." I know this to be true but why haven't I never heard a Republican Capitalist state this truth? Why does it take a watered-down Socialist to state the obvious? And, since a Capitalist wouldn't/couldn't dare state such a thing, even though it is true, then why should I trust him, feel loyal or indebted to him, to it? I mean, let's face it, Capitalism got us into this mess and there is no resolution in sight and there won't be.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating Socialism, I'm advocating conversation because nothing is black and white anymore and certainly not Capitalism nor Socialism, both are mutant spawns of their original entity. I suppose a better example would be China, so-called Communist China, but in reality it is a Communist-Capitalist China.

But, is there such thing as Capitalism, Socialism, or even Communism anymore? I don't know what we are dealing with but each has subsets of the others. For example, in a true Capitalist ideology would there be Welfare and SNAP?

In critical thinking, the first step to resolving a problem is to 'define the problem' and by doing so only then can one define the correct solution. My point is we are no longer a true Capitalist nation. We are a patchwork of capitalism-totalitarianism-socialism-fascism tied up with strings that Big Money controls to chose the dance and tempo but never feel the consequences, those they leave to the commoners, or better said, the taxpayers.

Capitalism is no better than Socialism and Republicans are no better than Democrats - in fact - in my book, they're all the same, we're just fed this line along with the rest of the crap to keep us dancing to the correct tune, their tune.

As Grandpa once said "I was a Democrat until I woke up one morning and my party was against everything I was for and for everything I was against." Me I am pretty much a Libertarian but since we can never seem to run viable candidates......... or grasp local elections, state elections and then federal elections is the order to go........ I vote pretty much Republican as even if there is a candidate on the Dem side that is one more party line vote for the Communist.

I am not a believer in the government taxing me or anyone in order to support someone who is in need. If I want to be charitable, then I can be, but; it shouldn't be my representative government making decisions on who and when I am going to be charitable. People are no different than any other creature on this planet. If they can get all the comfort and security without any effort on their part, they will. If they can take advantage of someone's generosity in an ongoing manner to attain that comfort level, they will. I am not saying that we should cut off the needy. I'm saying that the continued trend of more and more individuals feeling entitled to healthcare, a retirement, an income, a home, a phone, an internet connection, food, shelter and a vehicle just because they exist is ridiculous. People need to be challenged to get jobs, to be productive, to make good life choices and if they do not, that's too bad.

Many have raised themselves above the situation they were born into by just believing in themselves and striving for a better life. This is the land of opportunity, but you have to look for it. Not everyone is going to invent the next "New" thing and become super rich. I am a strong believer that we need people in the educational system that will challenge our kids to be successful and help them find their place in the workforce. Finding a profession that you love doesn't happen for everyone and it definitely doesn't happen for those who are expecting someone else to pick up the tab for their existence. There are no participation trophies, no gratuitous allowances, no free lunch. You earn your way through life or have a shit life and that is the cold, real truth.

Fixing this will take cultural change. This is the old story of the Ant and the Grasshopper and these are the times when a cruel cold winter is approaching and there are more grasshoppers than there are ants.

I think genetics plays a big role in this and natural selection. When the weak who would never survive in a world of natural consequences have been coddled and bred with similar stock and multiplied....... the dependence and everyone owes me genes become dominant. You can literally draw a graph that constantly ascends from the 1940s to present. With around half of the able bodied folks now are dependent class citizens that vote for what is in their best interest. If I were the supreme dictator of America for one day, I would amend the constitution so that only people that have served honorably in the military, pay property taxes or pay in more income tax than they receive are allowed to vote. Hey that is what I see as the only fair solution for those of us that work hard, invest time and treasure and provide for ourselves. I have nothing against giving someone a hand up or teaching them to fish but lets be for real, we are well entrenched in a generational welfare State where those who don't are passing those who do in numbers.

Regrettably, that's the way it should be, not the way it is. Feeling sympathetic for another's plight is fine, but spend your own assets, don't tell me I have to enable further leeching..

Quite frankly, I cannot fault them for voting in what they perceive as their best interests. We conservatives and independents do that as well. Where the idea falls apart is trying to find a way to show the dependent class that their best interest is in becoming non dependent, to dispel the wrong perception.
