I think that message can be applied to almost every country in the world, things started going wrong when the immigrants and their off springs started getting into power, and improving (unchecked) things for the people of their own race/religion etc. To take it back now will require a revolt of a kind that we don't want as they'll call it an ethnic cleansing and that is a dirty word indeed.
