These simply cannot be beat. The 9W set I bought at an Army/Navy surplus store back in 2007. I am a firm believer about having a redundant back up when feasible, so I received the 9R set from EBay yesterday. The first set, I paid $65 for, the latest set I paid $125 for S/H $26. If you are interested in buying these, they are simply getting depleted from the surplus stacks and have not been made for quite a few decades. Also, I found that the sizes are not what your shoe size is. My shoe size is 9.5 XW, but both sets are larger. I can wear a set of thick wool socks with the boot liners made for modern ICW combat boots and have a snug fit. The 9R provides a snug fit with just the heavy wool socks.
I have mine here on the Carolina coast. Sitting in the range tower all day they are perfect when it gets really cold here. I remember returning from a trip to Michigan for Christmas one year and going into the local McDonald's here in town still wearing those boots. I had my jeans down over them, but I was still getting strange looks because it was 75 and sunny here.
Well to update this thread. Last week, a email from EBay that had an item that I may be interested in, a set of NOS white bunny boots. I added the item to my watch list, then two days later, another email from eBay with a $50 dollar off discount for these boots and they are now mine.
