As true as it might be, I know my own and my country's relationship to the world...we are small, poorer than EU or US, have only 2 million people, we have no oil or uranium or titanium (like Kosovo, BondSteel base is actually a mine), but we do have one interesting thing that makes US like us...We have the best Lorandite in the world, and it's rare...and a mountain full of US scientists...allegedly doing "microcosmos" research, whatever it might be...LOL
And to tell you the truth, I had enough of education for a lifetime...19 years is more than enough for anybody...
Not to mention that I would have to be away from my family and friends...If it was a regular, normal 30 days vacation, sure, why not...but 2-3-4 years, no way...I don't care that much about the world!... :D

then why do you spend so much time perusing US and world news who's headlines and stories you share with us several times a day?

    bnmb On Hiatus Banned

I didn't say I don't care about the world at all, just that I care about my family much more. I post stories I find interesting, even aliens and other stuff like that, and since 90% of people here are from US, I thought that they might have interest in the stories...I really doubt anyone cares that my govt built 2 new statues on a bridge!
Is there a problem I'm missing here? Do you have a problem with my posting of stories about US?
If so, just tell me, and I will stop, no problems!

Not a problem at all. I just find it odd when someone is willing to form opinions based on second hand information rather than empirical data. I also don't have a problem with those who choose not to venture beyond their comfort zone but please don't assume you understand either the U.S of American nor our citizens based on a few headlines you catch on the internet.

What do you mean by "form opinions based on second hand information rather than empirical data"? And who is that "someone"? Me?
So, the second hand data here is what exactly? US media and the news? The things people talk about here? Are you saying that if I was in US, I would see different CNN and FOX and MSNBC, or people would tell me different things then you or anyone else here? Are people here from US lying to me? What would be first hand information then? BO or the WH press secretary? A supreme court judge?

Was I prejudiced towards anyone here since I came here? Did I ever said all Americans are bad or something? I said just the opposite! In more than one ocassion!

And why would I venture outside my comfort zone? What would the reason be? I'm not a soldier who's ordered to go somewhere across the world or something...I have a lot of real estate here, excellent and regular salary, both my wife and me work, no debts, no loans, no mortgages, 2 healthy kids that drive me nuts, 2 cars...We work 5 days a week, 7 hours a day, our medicare and education is free, we go camping almost every weekend in Summer, skiing in Winter, etc...
So, why exactly would I go anywhere abroad for work? For holiday, yes, but for few years, never! And certainly not for money! No money or education is worth being separated from your family.

Did I ever said that I understand US? I was saying just the opposite! I said in many occasions that I just don't understand almost anything about US politics, or media, or laws, or democracy, or state, or govt! That's why I find those articles so interesting! In our news everything is blunt, simple and boring...If you red todays news, no need to read them for the rest of the month! As for US people, aren't they human like me? Don't we wan't same things, or have more-less similar lives?

I feel a bit under attack here, and I don't know why exactly, but I'm doing my best not to respond excessively...
I would appreciate if you would be so kind to tell me what I did wrong, since this started with me saying that I don't care about the world as much as I care about my family...And I didn't lie...

No need to be so defensive bnmb. I was simply making an observation and expressing my opinion.

What can I do? It's stronger then me! A difference in opinions is OK, but whenever I feel personally attacked, I respond strongly...always have and probably always will...

I agree, family comes first, Bane. I know plenty of Americans who are "dumbed down" and have never left their own state and form opinions on a world they don't understand.

It's easy to point a finger at somebody like you. No big deal.

Hey, if more Americans received a quality education and grew some real courage we wouldn't be arguing over patriotic pride for a broken system which enslaves its citizenry and where its people falsely believe they are free. I will continue to learn all I can from people in another part of the world and do my best to tolerate their DIFFERING opinions. ;) Be well!

I guess we're saying some of the the same things in two different ways Broker. Learning from other cultures broadens our perspective. I just don't happen to believe reading headlines is necessarily the best ways to understand those cultures. Even facts, seen through the eyes of a writer, can be slanted in such a way that black is white and white is gray. I've never agreed with your enslavement argument but then again, I come to my opinions based on my own personal experiences just as yours are formed by your experiences.

Thanks Brokor...And yes RightHand...News headlines is NOT the best way to learn about other cultures...Talking to people from those cultures IS! While all of the media in the world lies their off, people will tell you the truth most of the time!

Have you been using hooked on phonics?
Your English went from simple use and you not understanding what we type to using words like:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" />
    Relevance, incomprehensible etc.
You going to share with me the material you are using to gain better English?
It looks to me that you have passed me up with the use of English..

LOL...I've been studying English since I was 4 years old...I don't have problems with understanding words, but sometimes with sentence constructions that are used in the US...I'm more used to UK English...
I also sometimes have problems with slang words or sentences using slang, and also sometimes with sentences that are bit vague or that imply something. Usually, only native language speakers do that properly, foreigners don't...
And I teach in English, so... :D
