    Random Thoughts

    Did you ever wonder:

If wool shrinks when it gets wet, do sheep shrink when it rains?

Why do they use sterilized needles for lethal injections?

Why can't women put mascara on without their mouth open?

Why do drive-up ATM machines have braille?

Why do we push our Democratic Form of Government
    on every other country,
when we who already have it,
    think it blows
    and know it doesn't work??

Why do we push Democracy on others when we are supposed to be a constitutional republic?

Why do we keep using the word Democracy for our government when we are still theoretically a constitutional republic?

Though of late I'm thinking more and more that we're a semi benign dictatorship.

Early this morning I told my wife that I had developed a big callous on the side of my large left toe. So she ground it off with the Dremel using the sandpaper tip. That was a funny feeling.

You can bet that if I ever get hemorroids, she will never know.

Just hooked up the Boy's network in his Dorm. Pulled a speed test from www.toast.net and ...WOW!!! 4.7mb... Off the chart. UT network must be sitting on a T3? In '89, we didn't have hi-speed hookups in the Dorm. My "New" system had a 2600 modem. I was the envy of the dorm...

Still had class registration by phone though. THat's a big plus for him

    A T3 is 28 T1s, with framing bits and overhead, it's about 44.840 Mb/s.
Another possibility would be fiber or a hybrid fiber system.

whatever that means, it was FAST.

He uses a pay ervice for music and video, I think it's called morpheus..?

We downloaded a 20mb vid in about 45 seconds. and that may have been limited to the aptop HD RPM speed...dunno, it's got a GB of Ram. but still a slow laptop HD. Now my Destop has a RAID ) Stripe... 2 160GB SATA's .. thats as fast as I can get at home without a Scuzzy.

Man I love the sound of a SCSI spinning up!

Why do keyboards die so soon? Shouldn't they last longer than 9 years?

Yeah it gave up the ghost sometime while I was at work today - had to go replace it (it might of only been eight - I'll have to go look up the receipt for when I bought this computer - yes my computer is that old). Well the motherboard and most of the parts are - I've replaced a few things.

I'm not into buying things until they totally wear out. And at least it works with cable internet (most days).

Now Miss T, we've all seen the photo's of your shoe closet, your knife wall, and your gun collection. You can't fool us. You just don't buy computers until they are totally worn out. b::

I don't think I saw the photo of the shoe closet. BUT, since I showed you my kitchen, I think you should "quid pro quo."
