Ordered a OREGON Battery Powered Chainsaw last night.

I'll post what happens when it gets here.

Just took some before pictures of the top of a Levee that I need to clear so I can drive the Tractor there.

In the process I killed 3 cottonmouths laying in Beaver's canal they made.

I'll do a before and after Picture Posting, around Thursday if the rain works out with time and sizes of limbs cut..

Snake of the venomous variety. Nasty bite, life threatening.

Wood density seems to effect battery life.

Of course. You will only get "X" amout of work from any battery. If you use cut denser wood, you use up more of that battery charge, to do the same job.

Sometimes stating the obvious can be extremely helpful

Yes, yes it can. "I think, therefore I am" was both absolutely obvious, yet central to logical thought. You're welcome.;)

The OREGON CS250-E6 40 volt Max arrived today. The 2.4Ah battery was part of the package as was the itty bity bottle of bar oil. Nice package. I also ordered the soft storage case just to keep all the parts as a package. Tough cloth bag with inside and outside pockets.

The part to be most aware of is that this unit comes with the highest count chipper set chain also classed as an anti kick back chain. Important when you need an new chain for the cost will be around $40, but this is what makes the saw work so well.

DC motors are at their best on a full charge and Torque is what makes this unit able to use an aggresive cutting chain.

Too bad it is made in CHINA!

While I was recording the vitals of the Oregon 250 I filled out the "cupon" for the FREE B500S 1.25 AH battery. Free stuff is always nice.

A timed Load Test later this week.

$40US for a Chain???? That is just plain HighWay Robbery..... My Stihl Chains cost me about $5US each to make up, and they are a lot longer than yours.....

I think I will go with a Dewalt cordless sawzall. :p

It was an interesting read to see what some of you think about battery powered chain saws.

The description & pic on the Amazon website shows the chain coming with the stone:
The Oregon PowerNow 548179 Replacement Saw Chain, PowerSharp 14-in (includes sharpening stone) is low-kickback per ANSI B175.1 & CSA Z62.3.

So you can order with or without the stone? I wonder how much use would wear it down so you'd need a new stone? And could you tell just by looking?

Simple, inspect, measure and record the new stone as installed in the new chain saw. Time to change Chain? Check out the now used stone and if used more than 50% then make a judgement call of what is needed.
