I am sorry to hear of the death of the 3 US citizens helping Australia fighting bush fires near the Township of Cooma in NSW. My thoughts and condolences go to their kin, and the communities that they came from. It will undoubtedly be a terrible shock to them.

Well there you go...ASIP is an acronym that can mean many different things depending on context. Doing a search for ASIP was a fraught endeavour without some industry back ground, I tend to define when possible, terms that may not be familiar to a lay person. Thank you for the corrective feedback. :)

No problem. The main thing is the herc is a great aircraft but when it sees seriously stressful flight hours that occur when used for firefighting the inspection interval on certain critical structural components can be quite short. Some of the inspections that we did started because of crashed in fire service aircraft. The one showing the wings folding up is a classic example of why rainbow fitting inspections happen every certain number of hours.

I have flown in Hercs a number of times. It's an awesome military aircraft.
