Time Pieces: What's On Your Wrist?

Just some info in case anybody is wondering about watches from China. They've come a very long way in recent years and they are not all companies owned by the CCP. These are mostly startup companies who actually listen to their customers. I've been researching some of these companies for a while, and a few stand out. Now, most are probably aware of the clones, which are rip-offs of luxury watches such as Rolex, Patek, Omega, etc. These aren't on the list, but for the record (in case anybody doesn't know) the China clones are getting nearly impossible to tell apart because the quality has been matched on nearly every level, and only disassembly will reveal the truth. I won't buy clones, it doesn't suit my purposes to buy a fake watch no matter the quality, and I won't expect people to do the same.

Here are a few I've found that are on the top of the list with their own designs, making very good quality watches with great movements.

Some watches made by a few of the above might be homage watches by design, but most are unique and they all use quality movements for budget-friendly buyers. I don't know how to type that. "Budget conscious buyers"? Anywway...Keep in mind these aren't all top tier movements, but the Seagull movement for example is quite good for the price range. Some may use Chinese NH35 movements instead of the Seiko, or a Miyota movement, but they are pretty much the just as good for less money. Keep in mind, I do not necessarily believe people should just rely upon a Chinese watch as their only and first mechanical movement, but it isn't the worst you can buy these days. Some of these watch makers have really gone to great lengths to make quality watches. If you're interested, watch some YouTube videos on the subject, just type in the name of the watch and see a review. Some of the people reviewing aren't being paid by the company, there are a lot of addicts out there who love trying out these watches. And I know, it's not made in USA, but there aren't any watch makers in the USA who manufacture and assemble mechanical movements for a decent price. The idea is to buy a quality mechanical watch for under $300.

Of course, the Russian Vostok watch is a good option, too. And I won't advertise which Chinese watches I have owned, but I can say that the ones I have had and still do are very good quality. For example, I own a full titanium (watch case and band) automatic with a Miyota movement and it keeps time at less than 1 second per day, perfect time -and I paid $150 for it.
