For you old folks out there does anyone rememeber the ASP pistol that used to bult back in the late 70's & 80's era as the main go to pistol of the Spooks personal . the ASP was a reworked model 39 9mm pistol that was reworked about 289 areas if i remember it right about the pistol .. i found one in a gunstore today and the guy was like no one has the money for the pistol because of the price range he asked ..the pistol about $3100.oo but it has all the orignal gear and holster with it ..it would mean i would have to go into debt for a few months to pay it off in a quick loan out of my 401k for it . here is a couple of pictures of the pistol ..the gun is worth about $3500 or more in some of the online acutions i watch when one has come up for sale ..
there is alot of history behind the company and maker who made them and it more as a collector piece than anything else ..that pistol idea was stolen by S&W years later in there new model 39 series..
My answer is a resounding 'NO' with 3k you could buy 1 FAL G1 sporter (700.00) 1k 7.62x51 to feed it (400.00) 10 FAL 20rd mags (90.00) 1 Mossberg 590 SP 9rd 12 ga shotgun (400) 250 rd case of 00Buck 2.75" (100) 1 springfield XD9 (500) 10 mags for above (350) 1k 9mm 124g brass (200) 1 Mosin M91/30 (80) 880 rd 7.62x54R (165) OR 1080 MRE's MRE entree Variety Pack - CASE of 72 OR 1 M35A2 deuce and a half 6x6 M35A2 W/W M35 military Army deuce and a half 6x6 winch | eBay OR ?? Ok, if it's going to be one gun ..... Get a real whoop azz gun like Advanced Longerange Systems 50 bmg conversions and 200 plus rounds to feed it. and maybe a gel recoil pad for your shoulder.
I wound up selling my expensive weapon to standardize and expand my current selections. A Browning Sweet 16 from the 50's was just not in my SHTF needs. I no longer own any collector pieces, shooters only. I will admit the pistol is cool but as a survival piece, erm, can you get replacement parts for it?
it made from a S&W model 39 9mm cal pistol ..i have my survival weapon battery allready ..the piece is more of a cold war histroy piece of the socalled spy game between the good guys which we where the good guys and the bad guy's which was the russian. spy agency The KGB
Living like a rich man? If $3000 is petty cash to you, and you think the gun is neat, buy it. But if you want reliability or some other feature, as you have already seen, it can be found elsewhere for cheaper.
it like getting your hands on a Colt Patterson with all it accessories items and finding it was carry by Colt himself ..it was a symbol of the spooks and for those like who where in the militayr dureing the cold war because when you saw one in the hands of the civilain or miltary spooks it was a special treat because of them beening harding evering seeing one in the hands of a regular personal .. .. it the history of the pistol that make's the pistol special
Even the guy Charlie Kelsy who created and made it is interesting. Ahead of their time: the sad saga of Devel | American Handgunner | Find Articles at BNET His ammunition: Devel Ammunition - English translation He was murdered in Georgetown TX. The Gun Zone -- Charlie Kelsey If this is correct he was shot in the head The Gun Zone -- Charlie Kelsey's Murder And supposedly he was a good friend of William Casey a former CIA director.
for those guys like me who where stationed in Berlin dureing the 70's era and saw the spooks running around and saw the pistol it was something else ..your own life was lived and died in those little moments of time .. Beening stationed in Berlin was like no where else for you had the Russian & East German military all around in the zone and it was a Spy hot bed of the diff country spy agencys that where in the free world at the time ..
Berlin would have been interesting place back then. My time was training and Vietnam; there were a fair amount of spooks there also.
yeah the orignal design Paris Thedore passed in 2006 time frame after haveing cancer but the whole thing was he was not sick intill the last couple of month's before he died
Hank I remember when that gun hit the market. IIRC new it was in the $1200.00 range, and that was in the early 80's. Always thought it was a cool gun, but could never afford it. I ended up pulling the trigger on a P7M8 a few years later. Then, new the P7 cost me $450.00.
