A friend told me about this YouTube video about a tracking nerf machine gun The same day another friend told me about this AR upper in 7.62 x 39: Radical Firearms 7.5" 7.62x39 RF Quad Rail: 7" FQR He has the 16" version and it goes bang every time using standard buffers and springs. When he first got it, he attached it to a stock DPMS lower and it functioned as advertized. Anyway, seems to me it would be interesting to merge the two together. The tracking system website is Rudolph Labs which has a step by step guide. I'm thinking if you keep the AR platform to a compact pistol size, use the sides of the quad rail for the camera mounts and to mount to the motorized base, replace the pistol grip of the lower with solenoid trigger actuator... You could potentially, if you made this robust enough, make a system where a single person could monitor and operate a small group of these in an SHTF scenario (given electricity) to protect the ranch. Obviously, not a replacement for other protective options, but could be a great way to augment things if you have the resources. I'm unaware of any regulations at this time that would make this illegal, especially since the video of the pistol firing quad copter was released. Not sure if this is the right forum for this, so if the moderators want to move it elsewhere it's okie dokie by me.
