Traded an AK47 for a Savage 110 300 Win Mag

I swapped this AK and some $$ for a Savage 110 in 300 Win Mag...Two armadillos meet their maker today by her hand [elim]

Even I managed 1.5 inch groups at around 100 yards.

Sounds like I need to come down with my AR and we can have a real test on the effectiveness of the 5.56 versus the 7.62X39. Now that I know you have targets worthy of a test like this!!!

Well, I got the single shot in 5.56, the new AK and a .270, so guess you all still got me beat but could at least share ammo for 2 out of 3 if UPS is still running! lol

 

No, I didn't make a hat out of it...had too big a hole in it, and the second one was about 100 yards away on the other side of the fence on someone else's land

What brand, weight and cartridge do you use?

 

I, or rather my .300 is partial to the "Hornady Custom 165 gr. Boat Tail Spire Point Interlock Bullet" with a muzzle velocity of 3100 fps.

 

I picked up a box of those today, I am gonna try the Federal Premium with Some kind of chamber, it is soft nose...

 

my .300 loves the Winchester Fail Safe. Can drill holes with them and would drop a bull elk in his tracks..... If I could ever find a elk to drill holes in! Guess the gun can't do it's part until I do mine!

 

Yeah they say this is the gun for North American Large game, lol Thanks for the input, I will be needing more I know!

 

Trigger work is next, and of course optics upgrades are always good.

 

The trigger seems pretty nice, but yeah it is begging for a Leopold

 

Was it one of the Savage models with the adjustable accu-trigger?

 

I don't know how to tell, it is a 110 but that is all the barrel says... I will bring it when I come down, if we can get together this wk.
