I just want my baggage, not a bj ;) though sometimes I end up getting right, royally rogered at the check in... which is never part of my travel plan

I will look into the statue about tagging the bag. US Air and America West (both morphed into AA)did not do this, only American.
They did not handle the firearm
I have the keys to the case
The bag is locked via statute with a "approved TSA lock"

This "steal me tag" is on the OUTSIDE of the bag attached to the handle, not inside the bag

"You want to look as if you are keeping the country safe?
You want to feel really important though you are just glorified rent-a-cops?
You want to mess up travelers simple itineraries?
You always wanted to grope people and get away with it?
Join the TSA. We have all that and cookies too."

Must be an American Airlines thing. United put the tag on top of the gun case inside the bag.

They put one on the gun case taped to the case inside the bag AND the Red Steal Me on the handle, then TSA actually puts a 1 inch dia orange TSA sticker on the printed luggage barcode tracking tag.
